Quest Atak 5
Just picked this up - no bids on Ebay, so made him an offer...
I'd quite like an Urchin, but these seem to be the next best thing!
It needs a bit of tlc, and likely to get a re-finish job done on it (when I get round to completing the job on the Squier Katana). It has a few chips in the usual pointy places, and looks like it used to be red at some time. I can only assume thatt it was repainted in the factory though as the paint otherwise all looks original.
I thnk that the bridge pickup has a push pull coil split option, via volume knob, but the sound on it is so weak at the moment it's hard to be sure.... The jack socket is quite corroded, so may just be that a good clean and squirt is all that is needed.
I've not seen these pickups before on any of my Mats guitars though. Anyone recognise them?
I haven't taken any resistance readings yet to see if that will tell me why the bridge is mis-behaving.

Re: Quest Atak 5
One of a series of interesting gits from Uncle Mats, along with the Manhattan and the Urchin.
If you haven't already seen it, there's a bit of info on a catalog scan over at the Guitar Gallery (Mats Forum): LINK
Of course it's the Urchin that rules!

Yes, I do like the Manhattan, but they very rarely turn up. There was one on eBay USA recently though with the hard case that went for $450.
And a nice looking Urchin Deluxe sold too on UK eBay for about £350 with interesting looking locking tremolo on it.

Very nice Adey! Though I think it needs more strings, no wonder it sounds weak

Two strings is usually plenty for me!
Usually the two thickest ones though it has to be said!😃
