Need pics & specs of spectrum SX Nut
Hi folks I recently purchased an 86 spectrum SX that has had the original nut & string lock assembly removed and replaced with an aftermarket locking Nut.
http://forum.westoneguitars.net/members-westones-f6/my-spectrum-sx-from-down-under-t452.htm
Could I possibly impose on one of you kind folk with the above model Westone, to photo and measure your Nut for me please?
Corsair has kindly offered to donate an old string lock base plate to the cause (Thankyou Sir) which will help me along nicely.
Thanks in advance, any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers everyone.

Re: Need pics & specs of spectrum SX Nut
Come on troops; someone must be able to do this wee job for Trevor; I can't because my gear is not to hand.... We need overall length, width and depth from the bottom of the slot, string spacing and string groove depths. The radius too, if you can manage it... a diagram or photo even...

Re: Need pics & specs of spectrum SX Nut
John, Trevor
Not having a spectrum, I'm a bit stuck as how to help further. However, looking at Davids website, it would seem there are two version of the sx. Furthermore, the nut is listed as graphite and seems, if my eyes don't deceive me, to be set into the fretboard about a quarter of inch down from the end. Certainly, on my Dimension, which equiped in a similar fashion, the nut is graphite and set in the fretboard exactly the same.
Trevor, can you remove the after market locknut and examine the end on the fretboard. Does it look as if the previous owner has removed some on the fretboard to fit the after market locknut or tidy up that area by removing the nut slot?
I can measure my Dimension but we could be going into unknown territory!!

Dimensions
I measured my SX nut, all figures are approximate.
The length is flush with the fretboard approx - 40mm
The Width is approx 3-3.5mm due to a slight contour
The height (or depth including into the fretboard) is approx 5mm
The string spacing is approx 6mm
the height from the frtboard to the top of nut on the low E string side is 2.5mm
the height from the frtboard to the top of the nut on the high E string side is 1mm
hope this helps although your locking nut is in a different place to mine as mine sits further away from the nut
will try to take some pictures, oh and i think it is graphite.
Sorry it took so long, i only just noticed the post

sorry i didnt notice the post earlier.
Note to self "check all posts"
any other questions / measurements i will try my best just ask.
i should imagine you will struggle to find an original lock unit.

I can well imagine - spouses don't find this stuff anywhere near as interesting as we do!!

Hmmm - yes - the base will be a problem; David has all of the washers and bolts but not bases; does anyone out there have an old, stripped FT base for pattern-making?
