Which Westone Model?
Greetings! Would appreciate any suggestions for which Westone models might suit my needs....something with heavy bottom end and growl for dark, almost gothic sound. (Sabbath-ish?). UBC MX doesn't fit the bill....Do not have access to other models, and would like to hear opinions from you wise, knowledgeable Westone lovers...Thank you and G'Day!

Can't go wrong with the Thunder range, even the passive 1 with mmk45's in packs a serious punch, saying that, I have a spectrum DX with a pair of PRS SE humbuckers in and that is indistinguishable from my thunder 1 with mmk45's in all the tests I can think of.

The maple neck + fingerboard doesn't help.
Stick a Dimarzio tone zone in there.

Thanks fellas! Mortarman's Westone/ Electrafest would have been helpful as well, but I can't swing the trip...this year. Will be switching out the UBC at some point soon, however I feel the need to bring another Westone into my house Only have the one so far....

I don't think that the "tonewoods" will matter too much, or guitar mass for that matter. Pickups may matter most. Speaking of Sabbath, Tony Iommi used an SG which is a thin little guitar with a snappy sound! And think of the great growl he got from that thing!
I recommend whatever Westone style you like. Because it's mostly all in the amp, pickups and pick.

I would also recommend a Spectrum, they're just SO nice.
Only one better is a Dynasty because they look super cool.

Re: Which Westone Model?
Pretty much any Westone equipped with MMK45's would likely fulfill your wish Sodbuster.
For what you're after though I think I'd agree with Sarge and go with the early Thunder line (with Active circuit if you really wanna make a noise, but not necessary).
I have two I-A's. The 1981 is ash with top mount bridge, the 1983 is maple with a string thru. Both are freekin' loud! It's subjective of course, but I think the '83 has an edge in sustain and just brute power output, and the '81 has decent sustain with a nicer tone.

Re: Which Westone Model?
I would like to take this time to thank you all for teaching me so much about electric guitar in general, and Westone specifically...I'm relatively new to guitar, and I've learned a great deal already. I was leaning towards a Thunder prior to this original post. I currently play the Spectrum MX, a 1967 ES 330, and my other Mats....AP Thor Sound 400, which is killer but may be too similar to the Thunder? Doesn't really matter, I don't necessarily need another Westone, I necessarily WANT one! Thanks for all the advice/opinions...You Rock! (My Photography skills are horrible but I will post some pics ASAP)
