Fixing up a Corsair Empty Fixing up a Corsair

Post by Chief2994 Fri Oct 22, 2010 1:20 pm

So. I've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks, and now it's time to post. I recently picked up what I believe is a 1987 XA1430 Corsair in Sky Blue. It works great except for 2 issues.

First off, the input jack is iffy. Sometimes it works fine, other times it hums. It's not my amp or cord, I've tested everything out with my other guitars. I am not too good with electronics, so any help would be appreciated.

The other problem is a missing part. I need the 2 triangular washers and one rectangular washer, and well as the 3 bolts for the locking nut on a Bendmaster Deluxe. I know about the spares site, but I'm in the U.S. and it says U.K. orders only. If these parts prove too hard to find I'll probably just swap out the whole locking nut.

Thanks in advance for the help! geek

Hi Chief,

The nut on the jack socket is quite possibly loose and needs tightening. If this is not the problem, then there is probably a loose connection on the socket which may need re-soldering. Best of luck with the missing parts.

Martin.

Fixing up a Corsair Empty Corsair parts/Westone parts

There are still some Matsumoku parts at the St Louis Music Company. Call them and ask for the specific items. They may ask you to email a list. The last of the Matsumoku parts were sent to them and that's where my '88 Burgundy Pearl 1430 was built.

Wow, that's news! Are you sure about that? As far as I know nobody here, senior members, resident experts, and particularly, Tom Presley himself, have any knowledge of this.

If true, we've indeed hit the parts Mother lode!

Fixing up a Corsair Empty Corsair parts

Tom is the one who told me to get in touch with them. He said that the last of the corsairs were assembled of Matsumoku parts at the SLMC. He said I should contact them for parts or repairs, that they might not have what I need, but last he heard they had *some* parts.

Fixing up a Corsair Empty Saint Louis Music Company

Post by AngelPDX Mon Feb 14, 2011 12:29 pm

Barry,

I did contact SLMC and the fellow I spoke to told me to send them an email list of parts I needed and they'd check for them. He didn't guarantee anything. I ended up finding the part that had become lost, so I didn't bother to send an email. So it's a potential, but not a definite, source.

I'm selling mine for parts if you want it I'll sell you the whole guitar for 70 bucks! It works and is in good shape, it's a metallic pink corsair. My profile pic is the guitar! If you search metallic pink in the search bar you find an old post with more pictures.
