X2RD setup help
Hello everyone, my fantastic wife of 28 years recently purchased a 1984 X2RD for me, which has to earn her a gold star to say the least! I had a Panterra back in the day as a kid but I'll be damned if I remember any of the technical data, lol.
I have done some searching, but haven't been able to find any manuals at all, to that end I thought I would reach out here. While the guitar is in beautiful condition for being 36 years old, hardly a scratch on it, the setup was done by Frankenstein and that's being kind, lol! The saddles are raised to maximum height, etc.
I'm hoping someone here can provide me with factory string sizes, (I'm assuming 9's), neck relief, action height, pickup height, etc set from the factory so I have a good starting point.
Thank you everyone in advance
Cheers - Drizzit

Re: X2RD setup help
Hi Drizzit and welcome.
I am not familiar with that X2RD reference. Are we still talking about a Pantera here?
Our website lists the following models only:
LINK
Perhaps one of the members has additional info.
Meantime, I wouldn't get hung up on "factory specifications", for any guitar. String gauge, action, etc comes down to personal preference and playing style. There are rules of thumb you can use but it's still preference in the end.
You'll be able to post pictures after a 7 day wait for new registrants (an anti SPAM measure). We'll be interested to see whatcha got!

Re: X2RD setup help
Sorry for the confusion, what I was trying to convey is that I owned a Pantera model Westone when I was a kid and lamented selling it in my 20's. My wife took it upon herself that if she ever came across a Pantera model, or any other Westone guitar of that era she would buy it for me.
The X2RD is also known as a Futura and predates the Pantera model by a few years, I don't believe the Pantera was produced until '86 or '87 if memory serves. The Futura production probably ended in '86.
I have always set my guitars up to my personal preference, however I have always found the factory setup specs to be a great starting point, especially on a guitar that is as far out of whack as this one.
Thanks for the welcome, and I look forward to showing off some pics once I get about 15 years worth of dust cleaned off!
The 1984 Electra/Westone Catalog can be seen on the River City Amps website, as i can't post a link either. The model in question is on page 3
I was able to add a picture of my Westone Futura as my avatar

Re: X2RD setup help
Ah, right! Of course, an Electra Futura.
My apologies.
Our former Admin had one and I know he'd have been all over this post! The River City Amps site would be the definitive resource for that baby. Not much more I can add I'm afraid.
