Re: Just broke a string claw
Option 1. Drill a hole in the adjustment lever, just behind the claw for the string to pass through, or
Option 2. Visit whammyworld and buy a Kahler item, which work with a little fettling...

Re: Just broke a string claw
Thanks guys!
I remember seeing the repair post in my early explorations here, I may give it a bit of electric drill unless I just break down and
buy a new bridge altogether. Interestingly my break was in the same location as the ones in your photos.
Now that I've looked at the other claws I can see stressing in the same place. Poor casting or weak material perhaps.
Ok, the drill is out. Wow, this metal seems too soft for its purpose. This IS an easy fix.
Might as well drill'em all at this point.
Mmm vintage Westone shavings...........shiny.

One of the few flaws in an otherwise stellar design run by our beloved Uncle Mats.RevDoc wrote:...Poor casting or weak material perhaps.

Re: Just broke a string claw
It is done!
Despite my reservation about my lack of a drill press, I clamped them up, drilled new holes, a bit of filing and on goes a new set of strings.
Works quite well!
Took the opportunity to replace the T-bar the previous owner installed with a proper locknut assembly and the Bendmaster
finally works as intended.
Much better.
