GAS attack
Got a gas attack in 2004 when I saw Steve Hackett on the To Watch The Storms tour. Had it ever since. Dithered a lot- really want one, no we need other things first etc. Coronavirus has lit my gas (Better get one now before I snuff it) and it's burning, or rather Burny-ing. Now I face the agony of waiting up to 4 hours for it to arrive.

Re: GAS attack
I hope so,they keep us awake with their late night (6am) parties with rap music,,, spit ! often enough.
Lovely guitar but very and I mean VERY heavy.
Will return to it tomorrow after I've sorted out the latest kitty problem - Echo (7 year old Bengal cat, 20% wild cat) aka Ecky Thump, Shut Up (Bikers get shirts saying born to ride, he'd have one saying born to whine) and now and then as 'get off the road sh!t for brains, . caught a baby rabbit. Took a while to get it off the little monster in mostly one piece and sort out a box with grass and water in the garage, I'll let it go tomorrow while he's locked in the house.
I want to keep it, I'm a sucker for small furry animals in distress and guitars.

Re: GAS attack
I've been a cat guy most of my adult life, but they're an acquired taste for most folks I find.
Up until late last summer we had 3 cats plus the cockapoo.
We lost 2 of them in a space of about 5 months and I miss them terribly. The youngest one was a feral cat and caught his share of mice, birds and possums! No bunnies.
Cats are pure magic, dogs pure love.
Guitars pure joy. Enjoy that thing!

I don't know Burny at all, but that looks the goods! I love the FR on a Paul - mainly because it makes LP snobs foam at the bung, eh!! :-)

Re: GAS attack
Gibson have been doing a FR on a LP for a number of years. So no big deal there. Just a BIG price..corsair wrote:I don't know Burny at all, but that looks the goods! I love the FR on a Paul - mainly because it makes LP snobs foam at the bung, eh!! :-)
Seems Gibson are going tits up, in a bit of trouble!!
What a waste !

Re: GAS attack
So painful to watch.
I saw that vid as well as an interview with the Gibson employee who filmed it (see below).
This Firebird model was a POS and a sales dud but how in hell do you simply destroy perfectly good instruments? And complete with hardware and electronics?!
Insurance write offs are one thing but this is just wanton destruction.
Most sane companies would simply liquidate the stock and take a loss on the difference.
This will not enhance Gibson's increasingly shabby reputation.

How about the bit where they'er snapping the necks on 335's..
What a disgraceful sacrilege of many parts that were obviously good.

Re: GAS attack
That made me madder than hell!
I have an ES330 so it hit home particularly hard.

Re: GAS attack
I don't think I'll ever buy, or otherwise own, a Gibson! I started my electric journey with a 1962 Melody Maker before switching to a Strat with my band. Owned a SG Standard (1964) and had the true pleasure of owning a 1965 ES-345 Stereo (for all too short of time - stolen). Never was really comfortable with any of them but of the three, the ES was my favorite.

Re: GAS attack
Not easy to watch, I agree....
... though I really don't care what Gibson do, nor what eventually happens to them as a company - karma is a bitch!
I have only owned one, a Recording LP with the low output pickups which sounded dreadful, though that was probably youthful inexperience!, and weighed as much as the moon; I owned that guitar for a month, I think. Went to a 58 Telecaster after that; a worthy guitar upon which I visited many, many indignities...

Here's the video I was thinking of when I said I was mad as hell.Westbone wrote:How about the bit where they'er snapping the necks on 335's..
It's by the same ex-Gibson employee who shot the first video.
Brace yourself...

Re: GAS attack
Sorry for hijaking the thread David.
The reference to Gibson's behaviour seems to have touched a raw nerve!
Your Burny is head and shoulders above most of what flies the Gibson banner these days.

Ive been watching Burnys for years but never actually grabbed one
If I do ever get a Les Paul it will be either Burny or Aria Pro II

Re: GAS attack
Barry - no problem, threads drift sometimes. Challpa, if you get a Burny you may need something I'm going to order today - an extra wide padded strap. This thing is seriously heavy - 12 pounds.

Re: GAS attack
That Burny IS NIIICE! Got me to check out what is available in my playground and the four that I found knocked my socks off pricewise! Two were Burny branded and the others were Fernandes (supposedly the export branding label). The prime reason that they are up for grabs... Weight!!
