GAS Attack...need help!

I find myself in a miserable spot.
The fellow I bought a Vantage VE550 Entertainar (sic) from last year has kept in touch and every time his buddy finds a Mats that he thinks I might like he calls me. The last time it was a Dynasty (not my style so I declined).

But this time it's a version 1 Thunder II in trans red!
It's in almost perfect condition, and with the OHSC, also in great condition.
However there are two flys in the soup.

The "almost" refers to the fact the brass knobs are gone (damn brass minkey marauders!) and replaced with hi-fi knobs it looks like:




So what's my problem? The price! CAD$500
I think it's too high, especially without the knobs.
Whatcha all think?

edit: Oh yeah, it would help if I actually had $500!

Wouldn't pay that for a 117 not in that condition anyway. Looks like it's been gnawed by rats around the edge.
A mint 150 went for £400. with case just last week.
