1986 Westone Spectrum DX [X140B] Body Wood
I have a Westone Spectrum DX [X140B] 'Left Handed' guitar. I know it was made in 1986 (by the Serial No.). And I purchased it in 1994 as a NOS , complete with a 'Left Handed' Guitar Case. Other then knowing the neck is hardwood Maple (painted black) , with a Rosewood fret board.
What can anyone here tell me about this guitar. Someone on HarmonyCentral.com [circa 2004] said their 1987 (know this by their reference to a Floyd Rose tailpiece) Spectrum DX was made of Basswood.
I know that the late 1970s & early 1980s Matsura guitars were supposedly made from Canadian 'West Coast' Maple. But I have found no documentation on the Westone Series of guitars , other then a PDF posting of a 1981 Catalog 'snippit'. They list an Ash body guitar for $299 , and everything else is for $349.
Thoughts PLEASE.

Anyone looking to UPGADE their Spectrum DX [X140] Guitar
I 'swapped out' the original pickups on my 1986 Westone Spectrum DX (the previous owner tried to 'Van Halen' ise them) , with EMG 'Select' pickups.
Other than changing the Tone Control cap value to 22nF [to compensate for the 1M output of the pickups] , this guitar now has way more 'highs' then the previous set-up had.
Try it , you will "LOVE" it.

Not basswood, no - hard rock maple in a butcherblock fashion.
