Due to a recent bout of G.A.S. I'm running out out of space for guitars and the ones that aren't being played should be moved on. They are:

A black 1986 Westone Spectrum ST serial number 6060701 - £60

A blueburst 1985 Westone Spectrum GT serial number 5011488 - £120

Both guitars have plenty of knocks and dings but both play well.

I'm in South Wales near Chepstow and would prefer collection because I'm lazy but I'd be prepared to ship at cost. I can also drop off or meet in a 30 minute radius.

In the next few days I'll be sticking them on Gumtree but if anyone here wants them, make an offer - I'd rather they went to an enthusiast.

Thinning the Herd Empty 1986 Westone Spectrum ST

Post by The Don Tue Aug 18, 2015 3:38 am

Matsumoku (Japan) built guitar with twin humbucking pickups. Guitar has coil tap facility which allows the humbuckers to act as single coil pickups. The controls include:

- Pickup selection: Bridge - Bridge/Neck - Neck
- Volume
- Tone (pull for coil tap)

Here is a link to the model page at the Westone website for full details of the guitar's specification: http://www.westoneguitars.net/guitars/spectrum-series/spectrum-st-x135/

The guitar comes without its original tremolo arm. I have a non-original arm which will ship with the guitar. The control knobs are reproductions of the originals.

The overall condition of guitar is typical for a 30 year old instrument with the exception of the dent which runs across the face of the guitar and illustrated in the pictures below. This dent does not affect the playability, tone or structural integrity of the guitar.

If you want any more information or pictures then please let me know.

Matsumoku (Japan) built guitar with twin humbucking pickups and a central single coil. Guitar has coil tap facility which allows the humbuckers to act as single coil pickups and phase reversal which allows you to get all kinds of tones. The controls include:

- Humbucker pickup selection: Bridge - Bridge/Neck - Neck
- Volume (pull for coil tap)
- Tone 1 (pull to switch off central single coil pickup)
- Tone 2 (pull for phase reversal)

Here is a link to the model page at the Westone website for full details of the guitar's specification: http://www.westoneguitars.net/guitars/spectrum-series/spectrum-gt-2/

The guitar comes with its original tremolo arm. The cover for the tremolo strings is missing.

The overall condition of guitar is typical for a 30 year old instrument and it has a number of dings on the body and headstock none of which affect the guitar's playability or tone.

If you want any more information or pictures then please let me know.

I'd appreciate any feedback on the level of detail on the ads, I've never sold guitars online before.

In case anyone's worried, this still leaves me with a Silverstone Spectrum FX, a Silverstone Spectrum GT and a Blueburst Spectrum GT so I won't be going un-Westoned Very Happy

Hey Don

In the GT listing you have named the tone pots as 'tone'  and 'bass'
They're both tone pots,  not a peq Smile
Otherwise they're good.
If I had room I'd nab your GT,  as its stands 20 guitars in the bedroom is getting daft,  she doesn't mind nor moan however, for which I'm eternally thankful .

Unless you fancy a trade for my Sheridan A150 mahogany lp jr dc copy?

Thanks for the feedback Sarge....

Mrs Don is similarly understanding but I feel I'm taking the piss these days.

The Sheridan looks like an interesting guitar but in the event that I'm able to do any herd thinning (I'm also considering moving on a Hagstrom and a Telecaster that I don't play enough either), then any addition would likely be electo-acoustic

I'm happy to say that the blueburst GT has found a new home with a longstanding forum member who I had the pleasure to meet this evening - I hope he enjoys it ! Very Happy
