Canada Road
16 Jul - Geckgo fest in Ystrad Mynach - you missed it and I played my Thunder 1
23 Jul - Merthyr Tydfil - some pub festival I dont know the name of
31 Jul - Buchan pub in Cardiff - we are just doing a few numbers before another band, bit of live practice
5 Aug - Kaya Festival, Margam Park.
Amazed me that I left my T1 at a mates house where it was ferried between garden shed (practice place) and attic, went on holiday and was still in tune after 2 weeks.

Re: Canada Road
Really a testament to the way Mats ensured that the wood was properly dried and handled methinks. TP alluded to as much in his "writings".
Everything ends up being amazingly stable, even after all these years.

Re: Canada Road
I used my old faithful Thunder 1 again last night, was in 2 minds before the gig as my other thought was to use my rather tasty Ibanez 5 string. The old bond won me over tho.

Re: Canada Road
The Andrew Buchan pub, Albany Road, Cardiff on Sat 22nd.
Rather than all original songs we will be doing a few covers as well for the first time.
Will almost certainly be sporting the fretted T1. Setup is largely acoustic apart from the Accordion and me.

Re: Canada Road
We will be live on radio on the 22nd Feb streamed on facebook and web.
uandiradio.com
Sometime between 8.30 and 10.30 pm UK time.
Just a bunch of guys in their mid to late 50s (apart from the singer).
Will almost certainly be playing me old faithful T1. Think we will be doing about 45mins of original stuff.

Re: Canada Road
Will try and give a listen but I'll likely bugger up the time change. Is anything being recorded?

Re: Canada Road
Got it entered into my calendar. It's 4:45 pm here as you take the stage so it's an awkward time here, but I'll try and catch you live. If not it'll be the video!

Well, I tried, but I could not find a live link anywhere on the uandi.com site, so I guess I'll wait for the video record.
Hope the gig went well!

Re: Canada Road
Ahh, there we go!
Interesting band mix Greg, not quite what I was expecting. I usually pucker up when I see an accordion but I must say the sounds that came out were very bluesy and complimentary. Had me looking for a keyboard and a harp there for a minute! Kudos to your player.
It's always difficult to get a decent recording when playing live, especially vocals, so I can't judge too harshly, but what I heard sounded OK.
Your lead guitar was very good. And if I may comment...since he's carrying a lot on his shoulders musically, perhaps a proper electric guitar might be helpful on some songs. An amplified acoustic can only do so much by itself (can't go wrong with an F-hole/jazz box style with a bit more balls, eh?) Something to consider.
I would not want to be the "drummer"! My arthritic hands are sore just watching him. Hope he drinks lots of pints to compensate.
And then, there's the bassist. What can you say? Just rock solid is all! Nicely done.

Re: Canada Road
Thanks Barry, appreciated. We have gone this way (no electric guitars) to avoid lugging amps and stuff, we were all just DI into the PA. Has its limitations but bloody great for travel, setup and exit time.
For a one off live recording broadcast on the www I'm pretty happy.

Re: Canada Road
Yep, there is that!
I do not miss all the lugging of equipment, set up, tear down, sound checks, etc. But man, we rattled the false teeth in the crowd!
