Adjusting a truss rod on Spectrum
What tool should I use to adjust the truss rod on my Spectrum? There isn't an Allen wrench in my tool box that fits (many go in the hole... none of them fit what's inside... wow, that sounded naughty). Thanks.

Yup. That's exactly what she said.drsyn67 wrote:...many go in the hole... none of them fit what's inside...

You'll need a metric set if yer gonna work on Uncle Mats' geetars.

Blast... typical stoopid American. Shoulda thought of that. We tried to adapt to the metric system in the '70s... this country decided the rest of the world was wrong.

Re: Adjusting a truss rod on Spectrum
We did switch in the 70's. Felt like I was learning to walk all over again at first. Fortunately, I was a school teacher at the time and had to teach and use the Metric system pretty much daily. So it became, over time, more natural to use.
I still remember the hollering and hooting that went on, particularly when the speed limit went from 60 mph to 100 km/h, and the old road signs had goofy stickers over the old number. 'Course the car speedometers still read out in mph! Nobody had clue how fast 100 km/h was.
You adapt, but we still have a weird sort of hybrid day to day language. Temperature is in Celsius but we still talk about being 6 ft tall instead of 180 cm.

Beneath the 49th parallel is another story... I don't think many schools in the States ever embraced teaching the metric system. I remember them trying when I was in grade school in the 70s and early 80s (graduated in '85)... I think when you consider that I also attended Georgia public schools... the chance of learning something new was even less... and I ain't just talking metric!
