Im considering buying this guitar but do not have much info on it, the seller believes its an 86' I would like to verify that it is a Matsumoku produced guitar.

Thanks!

I'd have to say it does look like it could be. Sure you'd find lots of experts over on the forums at http://www.matsumoku.org/

Nice looking guitar though

Hello Cmin, Smile

Yes, it is most certainly a Matsumoku and as far as I am aware, they were made by Vantage. I've just bought a Quest Atak Bass and they are superb guitars.

David is right, there is some info and a catalogue showing all the different Quest models on the Mat site.

Well done and enjoy it!

Thanks!

I am going to be trading a lower end '05 Dean ML for this and a Vintage Kustom 2x12 Cab. I think that sounds like a good deal.

Hold on, guys - that doesn't look like any of the Quests in that catalogue scan over at the MAtt site, so it may be prudent to go and ask the bods there, eh?! Sure is a classy looking guitar, though! Smile

On a more constructive note, finding out what, if anything, is stamped on the neck plate might give some clues too. You may at least get a Made in Japan assurance.

True! Yeah, there's some oddball shapes in there, eh; I quite like the Mosrite styled ones, and the APII Urchin ones! They had cool paint schemes, too!! Cool Twisted Evil .... like we need more guitars..... Laughing

I am waiting for him to send a pic of the neck plate as well as a serial number later today. which I think, will tell me what I want. he is advertising it as Made by Matsumoku. So I will probably own this by the end of the day.

Thanks again for all the comments.

I just spoke with the seller again, and he says that the neck plate doesn't say anything, which worries me that it is not a Matsumoku. the serial number is E624235 which certainly sounds like a Matsumoku serial, Any Ideas?
