Unknown Westone Model, Think its in the Corsair Family
Hey All, Years ago i purchased a Westone from a Local Pawn Shop for $90, I't came with a Hardshell Case, a $30 stand, and was fully loaded with 3 EMG pickups, 1 humbucker, and 2 single coil's, all active, the dual Humbucker EMG isnt in it anymore, i put it in my BC Rich Virgin i have. This guitar came exactly how you see it in the picture, and im not really sure if the pickups are the original ones or not, the wiring all looked factory when i pulled it in the begining, but i highly doubt they are the originals, as i havent seen any on the Westone website that has EMG's. It has a 5 way rotary selector switch, and 1 master volume, 2 tone control knobs. It also sports the Bendmaster Dlx floating tremlo, and locking system on the nut, with the fine tune controls on the tremlo. It has no model numbers or serials anywhere on it, and it doesnt have a neck plate on the back, its beveled, and bolted through the body its self, without a plate, which i havent really found one yet that is like this. I believe its in the Corsair family, but havent a clue which model. The thing plays incredible, i love it, and have allways enjoyed Westones for many years, i know most are made over sea's but am a fan because of Westones Origin, im from near the ST. Louis area. Ive been playing for many years, and have researched alot on guitars, but this one has me stumped.
I originally purchased this guitar for just the hardware alone, being the EMG's are worth a small fortune alone, but was going to strip it, and use the hardware on a guitar i built myself, and did, for several years till i broke the neck i made on it recently, so i decided to put this axe back together. It used to be bright yellow, but i stripped the paint, cuz i hate yellow, and am currently doing custom artwork on it myself right now. I cant post any pics of it on here, apparently you cant post external links till after 7 days, being i just joined here. I can email a pic or 2 of it to whoever can help.
Thanks
Robert

Welcome to the forum AC,
Check out the model archives here...
http://www.westoneguitars.net/guitars/
This is the other half of our domain and is currently maintained by a member here Barry, you will hopefully find what you are describing. If not throw up some pictures when you can. Some of the later Westone models are more frequently found over in the U.K. where we have members as well. Somebody should be able to help you identify your axe.

Once you have in think 10 (?) posts you can put up pictures. Or you can email them to me and I'll put them up in this thread. Hit the envelope icon under my avatar and that'll hook you up.
Re: Unknown Westone Model, Think its in the Corsair Family
as quoted in a earlier post here, i added a small pic on my Avatar showing some of the body of it, ill get some pictures up asap, or when the site lets me.
Re: Unknown Westone Model, Think its in the Corsair Family
Pics as promised...
The lower cutaway is not beveled so that rules out a Spectrum Series II. Most likely a later MIK model.
BrainFert??

I was thinking about doing that, but the laminate is a bit thin on it for that, most likely going to paint it in, then poly over it. its still in progress yet, no where near finished.

sorry still getting the hang of this forum. also wanted to note, that the backside on the top is beveled for comfort on your right arm, i need to post another pic of the backside, it also has the "Heel" i think thats what you all call it, contour where the neck joins the body, no plate. not sure if that helps out any?

+27 to the Spectrum III. And there have been odd variations from time to time, so there ya go. I don't think things were always so cookie cutter back then as now, although they were quickly becoming that way.

Re: Unknown Westone Model, Think its in the Corsair Family
cool, thanks guys, i really do appreciate the input from ya's. i looked up some of the Spectrum III's and most are pretty close to what i have, but what boggles me, mine had EMG Pickups in it when i got it, and the wireing seemed to be factory, as far as the soldering goes, unless the person who changed them out was a expert at that. any of you guys seen a Westone with EMG's? i really cant tell you what model of them they are, as there arent any markings or stickers other than the EMG letters at the bottom right of the top of the pickup. all the Westones i have sen have the normal pickups that were issued with them, none being EMG? that ive seen anyways?

yeah i looked those models over, they are really close to mine, but not exact. would be really interesting if i did have one that was out of the norm of the Westone realm, but i kinda doubt it, i never get that lucky lol. but it is a Very nice guitar, plays really good too, gotta work out a couple of bugs in the wiring yet, not a huge fan of 5 way toggles, but it is kinda nice to have one guitar with it that way. i wish i could get my Spectrum FX running, but i dont have the cash nor the original hardware that was on it
Re: Unknown Westone Model, Think its in the Corsair Family
Your guitar is a Spectrum III XA1330 with reverse headstock.
It's not at all rare or worth a fortune, especially now it has no paint.
Like you say you bought it for the pickups.
If you like it, keep it, do it up or not and play the bloody thing.
