Looks to be identical to the Unidentified model #1 on our web site EXCEPT for that funky looking logo! That's a new one on me. 1980 build too.

Good call Barry.....Can't quite see if the neck inlays are the same?. I wonder if the headstock has been over painted/finished at some stage and a stylised logo added? Looks to be in very good condition overall though....nice guitar with what appears to be a vast array of tonal options Smile

I used the Google translator and from what I understand the seller is referencing our web site as the definitive information source! So it looks like nobody really knows anything about this beast.

I don't know why anyone would go through the effort to redo the head stock logo like that but as we've seen here lately, folks do some extreme mod's to our beloved Westies.

And that logo just does not logically fit in with the historical progression of anything that we've seen so far which supports the thought that it was a custom "vanity" creation.

David Blair's original speculation was that this was a prototype model which led to the Thunder. I think that's most probably the case. Regardless, it is a beauty!

It would be great if Tom Presley would chime in on this one but I shall not hold my breath waiting. silent

It has a lot of similarity to the Satellite 90T neck-thru from late 70's. Neck / heel profile looks very similar. I have heard that these (Satellites) were Mats made, but I didn't really think it likely...

The logo tells it all.... this is the elusive "Land of Oz" model, from Westone's "Somewhere over the Rainbow" era (the logo clearly displays the theme...).   They came in Natural and Yellow Brick Road colors.
