Thunder II-A SWITCHES?
I did post this on the FB site, but I've always had better success here.
Hive mind, I seek your assistance.
I managed to purchase some six gang DPDT switches to replace those on a Thunder IIA I recently acquired.
However, it wold seem I have selected ON–OFF–ON switches, rather than the ON–ON I believed I had selected.
Can you advise whether can be made to do the job? If so, what needs to be done differently?
If not, does anyone know what use these might be put to?
Also, does anyone know where one might acquire similar switches that are six gang DPDT with the wide baton?
Finally, I'm also looking for the DPDT EIGHT GANG switch used for the gain control.
Does anyone know where to find the eight gang switch for the gain control? And again, if not available, is there something that will suffice?

Re: Thunder II-A SWITCHES?
Hmmm...this is the second request for these in a week.
And I still don't have an answer except to talk to Mr Google.
Perhaps one of our members has some info. Westbone, can you help?

Apologies. I moved the request as I feared I may have buried it in an old thread.
I have already scoured Google, as I'm pretty good at it. And while Furnells may have something, many are ON/ON/ON or ON/OFF/ON variants.
Also struggling for any 4DPT (?) switches.

Re: Thunder II-A SWITCHES?
After many hours of searching, I finally found what look to be the right switches on CPC.
If they turn out to be the right ones, I shall update this thread with links, because that was an awful lot harder than it actually needed to be.

Right, after spending an inordinate amount of time searching for the right switches*, I ordered these at the weekend. I've not installed them, yet, but I believe they are the correct ones.
The phase and coil tap switches are listed as "MULTICOMP 1MD1T6B11M1QE Panel Mount Flat Toggle Switch, DPDT, On-On, 5A, Silver Contacts".
The gain switch is listed as "MULTICOMP 1M41T6B11M1QE Panel Mount Flat Toggle Switch, 4PDT, On-On, 5A, Silver Contacts".
Hope that helps.
* So difficult, because many places purported to have them on Google, for me to discover they didn't even carry this type of switch at all. Even in the CPC/Farnell catalogue, double checking the items was nigh on impossible, because the technical data sheets for the switches were either short of certain information, or generic ones, often for different switches, though within the same range. It was infuriating, but we got there in the end.

Re: Thunder II-A SWITCHES?
Wow, that was a Herculean task eh?
Unfortunately there is a problem with your first link. Could you revisit that and edit it please? Second one is good.
Many thanks for the effort.
Meanwhile I shall "sticky-fy" this post for posterity!

Please don't take this the wrong way. It's just that I was a bit confused when I read your description of the switches.
I'd just like to try and clarify things for myself and anyone else who might come here and for future reference.
I was confused by your use of the term "six gang DPDT" and "DPDT EIGHT GANG".
To my mind, "six gang DPDT" implies six DPDT switches all switched in unison with one lever.
I think what you mean is "6-pin", which suggests to me a DPDT switch.
But then you mention "DPDT EIGHT GANG".
So I don't know what the "EIGHT GANG" here could mean.
If you mean 8-pin, then I don't know what switch that would be. 4PST? Unlikely.
I don't have a Thunder II-A, but I'm sure they are standard DPDT and 4PDT toggle switches.
There are wiring diagrams here http://www.westone.info/wiring/thunderlead/index.html
It sounds like yours may be the first one http://www.westone.info/wiring/thunderlead/active1/index.html
That circuit calls for 2x DPDT on/on toggles and 1x 4PDT on/on toggle.

They look like the correct switches.
The way Multicomp refer to them as "On-None-On" is a bit misleading if you ask me. It's not the same as "On-Off-On", it's basically "On-On".
So you're good to go. Have fun.
