Gorgeous!
Great to hear the original pups are with it, and I hope the covers are there also!
On many guitars the cover is mostly cosmetic, and made of steel or aluminum. Unfortunately, that acts like a muffler, and many folks remove them seeking a better tone..
But in a properly designed "vintage" pickup, the cover is nickel and it forms an integral part of the magnetic field which in turn enhances the tone.
The MMK75's are wonderful pickups but by removing the covers it would degrade the sound (which may be why the original owner changed them).
It also likely compromised the extensive shielding design which was part of the electronic circuitry of this guitar.
Man, what a beautiful model line this was! One of Uncle Mats' best methinks.

Hey Corsair yes I did buy it I have 2 of them now this one is a lot brighter, I guess that is the no name pickups - my daughter has one too. 3 in the family - rare birds. I think they are the most beautiful guitars around, the necks are amazing, fabulous playing guitars
Barry thanks for the info, I am going to put the original pickups back, I have found some covers that seem to have the same measurements, gold plated copper so I don't know what that will do to the tone. Do you have wiring diagram for these?

Thanks Westbone, my wife says I gotta stop collecting things, I have tried, I'm down to 4 bikes 26 guitars and 9 amps, without the PA gear, I don't think I have a problem. I was negotiating on another Ibanez blazer when I discovered this Prestige and I did not buy the Blazer! Mmm I wonder if it sold.

I compared the two for sound, the aftermarket pickups sound very thin compared to the originals, I have Gibson 490R that I might try. But then the originals do sound great. Trial and error - so many pickups out there.

I don't think you'll find many nicer than the Prestige originals.
The Gibson 490 is geared more to an aggressive rock sound (think an SG playing AC/DC etc.) Not so well suited for this beautiful guitar IMHO.

Hi Westbone, links didn't actually show but I have changed the pickups to Epiphone Probuckers with an Alnico in the bridge - sound great.
