Westone Bass Owners
Hello all! I am in the market for Westone bass. Which models do you prefer for playability, tone, reliability? I have a budget of $450 USD. Pickup configuration and body style are secondary, just want a solid bass. Any help, suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, cheers, and peace!

Re: Westone Bass Owners
The Thunder is hard to beat. Great overall Bass for all playing styles. The Rail or Quantum are great if you want a different look and a light Bass.

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Thank you, Mortarman! A Thunder is the model I am leaning towards. The Quantum and Rail intrigue me as well, however I think they will be a little out of my price range. The Thunder also happens to be my favorite Westone six string. I precise your reply. Thanks again, and Happy New Year!

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Spectrum GT is hard to beat; I have one and rate it quite highly - great noises and easy on the shoulder; I am, however, not a bassist!! The only recording I ever did as a bass player was on a Spectrum ST. I have not played a Thunder so cannot compare the two...

The best solution?
You need to have more than one!! Welcome to GAS City

Thank you for the input John. Sarge, that Concord of yours is a sexy beast for sure! Barry, me and GAS have a long history, Lol. This is great! Anybody else? I love Westone guitars, but the low end needs love too!

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Westone-wise, I've only ever played Thunders & of those, while I loved the short-scale Thunder II (version 3), my 'keeper' was the Thunder III (version 1) - P & J pickups, active circuit, beautiful straight-thru neck, it's just the dog's danglies
Suffice to say, I've had the usual Fenders (never liked the Precision, but the Jazz was nice), half-a-dozen Music Man Stingrays & a Sterling, even a few from Yamaha & Ibanez, but the Thunder III is the only one I have left

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Anyone care to comment on the Raider, Pantera or Genesis models? There are a few of these out there ATM..... Unfortunately, the Thunder III's would probably cost more than I am willing to spend as well. They have an awesome reputation, which carries an awesome price tag.

Re: Westone Bass Owners
The Pantera model Bass is a very comfortable Bass to play and has fast neck and strong pickups. I have a candy red Pantera. It has a long slim neck that's got a taper to it so works best for those that like a slim neck and have long arms but plays great and is balanced well.

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Thunder IA is a very good all round bass. Plenty tones and usually cheap for what they are.
Have a nice Spectrum series II SPB 311 pearl white, 24 frets, active if your interested send me a p.m.

Thanks, Damian. I will give the Spectrum II some thought, will p.m. you if interested, as you stated. Keeping an eye on an auction or two right now. Cheers!

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Thanks Fellas! It was a good day! The bass comes in a hardshell case as well. I know nothing about Westone bass cases, so I do not know if it is the original. There were no Westone markings that I could see, and it is a form fitting shape. Not rectangular.
Back to the Genesis! I have always liked this body shape, and while I like pointy head stocks, I really dig the Thunder headstock on this bass. Yes, I must agree the grain looks to be killer. Beautiful and mean looking at the same time!
Thanks again!

Re: Westone Bass Owners
Thanks! Happy Birthday to me! I will never be able to take such nice pics myself, so please indulge me while I share a few more shots of porn....
The seller assured me the spot on the neck is actually an area of flame. No matter. Going to be a long week of waiting...! Thanks again for all of the positive comments. Cheers!

Was going to say you cant beat a Thunder 1 for value then read the rest of the thread - thats the dbzz. Depends what you're going to do with it. Too good for trucking around.

Re: Westone Bass Owners
This is by far the best condition Westone I have owned, so I plan to take extra good care of her. Some studio and home playing is mainly what I have decided to do. It is a great bass, and a whole lotta fun to play. She is a sexy beast for sure. Thanks for all of the nice comments! Rock on!
