Hi Genesis 2, you didn't say what guitar you have (assume it's a Mats??).genesis 2 wrote:Hey all my pickups have died for some odd reason. It's very unusual for 2 pups to die at the same time. Are you positive that your wiring is not to blame? Sounds like a short circuit somewhere to me.
Assuming all is well, the best of British and Canadian luck getting a pair of replacement MMK 45's. You might get lucky here with a forum member, or sometimes they come up on eBay. As an alternative, you could see about having them re-wound.

genesis 2 bass
Its a rare genesis 2 bass guitar burgudy which they didnt make many of. Both pickups are some what dead although u do hear sound if u crank em all the way and there is sound if u tap the coils but they appear to be dead which is odd considering i sold this bass 15 years ago and it sat in its case ever since, and I just got it back

Barry might not have been paying attention to the thread title at all, but he's right, it sounds like a wiring issue. I have a Spectrum GT bass with wiring issues, my bridge pickup just died and it's definitely the wiring. The Magnabass pickups are mounted kind of strangely and the wiring is in there weird, so it might be suffering from the same issues mine is.

Yeah, kinda got confused when the title said "bass" and his opening reference in the post was to "guitar".Warrn wrote:Barry might not have been paying attention to the thread title at all...
Just enjoying a senile moment.
