Did Tim Smith Play Westones. Empty Did Tim Smith Play Westones.

I've just watched the Mairs nest video featuring the Cardiacs. In it the singer, Tim Smith, uses two guitars which look like they could be Westones. Possibly a Thunder and Spectrum. It was filmed in 1990, at the time when Westones were around.

Does anyone know if he did use them? I've never found a list of artists that used Westones.

There were a few... Dave Brock of Hawkwind, Trevor Rabin of Yes and Leslie West of Mountain spring to mind but only Brock used a Westone exclusively, a Spectrum LX, from memory.

Having had another look at the Mare's Nest (correct spelling) video I'm convinced Tim is playing a Westone if you look at the red guitar he's playing later in the attached video you can see the W of the Westone logo on the head.

Definitely a Spectrum I'd say - twin humbuckers, three controls (one with a missing knob by the looks of it) & pickup selector on the top horn, so according to the website, a Spectrum II (1984 version), I reckon:

Yes he did. A Thunder 1 which was sprayed green and then black. He also had a red Spectrum which is also featured in the Mare's Nest video.
