Poor, tortured Super Headless bass... Empty Poor, tortured Super Headless bass...

Post by punkyjam67 Thu Oct 03, 2013 5:29 pm

I see that the esteemed Mr Phillips has turned his 'upgrading' hand to a Super Headless bass now...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-Super-Headless-bass-fretless-passive-Jazzbass-electrics-and-set-up-/190920173151?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c73baa65f

I'm sure there must be a medical name for what he has!

I love the comment posted at the bottom, too... Wink

there was a seriously long thread on Basschat about this guy, converting 7 string guitars to six for `sausage fingered` builders, the guys a tit that needs to be exposed for the lying toerag that he is, he paid £51 for the westone and stuck 2 jazz pups in it and wants to charge £233! im selling a mint Hohner jack custom on ebay for less than that

He's obviously got some sort of mental illness. No-one in their right mind, truly believes that EVERY guitar and bass in the world MUST have a telecaster pickup..! And he gets very arsey, when anyone questions his actions.. But then there's his prices.. If he's actually mental enough to truly believe that he's improving these guitars, and that his work adds value..?

If he was knocking them out dirt cheap - that'd be fine, as the cost of the remedial work would be covered. But as it is... And he sells guitars. One a week, or so..  Who's buying this overpriced, butchered poop???
At least most of his work is reversible. God forbid he ever gets his hands on a router, and decides every guitar must have a jazz bass pickup..!

Ok, this guy has been well and truly dissected on these forums, yes he might have ideas outside his station, but I say enough baiting, it obviously works for him and people buy them so....

I despair of the people who buy these "creations". It's amazing to me that there is a market for them. Shocked

I think he's just trying to offer something different from the hoards of samey guitars on ebay, utter rubbish no doubt but good luck to him.

I agree with the "something different" idea but it's the complete lack of quality in his work that astounds me! At least make a scratch/cover plate for the unused  holes.....it's common decency!

You say that but this was his reply to me ..

"Hello,
Thanks for mailing and sorry if you think I butchered the guitar, but you have no idea what state it arrived in! It came to me in a very sorry state with the fretboard coming away from the neck and nothing working and very little chance of ever playing again unless I got stuck in and did something with it.
So I did what I could afford to do to make it into a playable and quite interesting bass.
Westones are okay, but they are to be honest fairly average guitars and hardly worth getting too emotional about... I love the wood of this guitar and think that for a couple of hundred pounds it will make someone a very nice fretless headless to expand their skills on.
Thanks,
Mark D Phillips.......

Yeah.... I saw that on the auction. Like I care what he thinks about anything; I really do think this particular thread has reached critical mass, let's all move on, shall we?
