Why does it take so long to finish a project?  Simple.... Take on too many projects and cover the air hockey table.
BTW everthing there is made from scratch - templates, necks, bodies, except for the spectrum hanging at the end.  This is what my wife puts up with in my house Smile

Nice projects!!

Very similar to my pool table. If it's not guitar's it's computers or multiple projects at once.
"Boys and their toys" Ladies, don't mess with it, period. It's a guy thing.

We will see pics right Sarc?

I claim the longest project for one guitar start to finish!! Laughing

And my Avenger project has stalled a little as well; life gets in way, fellas, although Sarc makes a compelling case!! lol!

So a couple of pics of my stuff.  The plan is 3 strats and 2 teles.
Here are 2 strat and 1 tele bodies after bandsaw, sander and router to get final shape.  I have the other 2 body blanks that should be ready to work on tomorrow.

Did 1 tele neck with the truss route and am waiting on 2 more quarter sawn blanks for strat necks before I cut out the rest.  The birdseye maple neck blank looks real nice.

I made my own templates for these so the neck pocket is the same for both strat and tele, so I guess I should be able to swap the necks if so needed.

This has delayed my 12 string project a bit, but I did get a chance to start to fix the laquer issue on the neck.  Will do pics of that later.

Once the major woodworking is done, then I will work on one at a time so I dont have to buy all the pups and hardware at once.  gets pricey

Why does it take so long to finish a project? 410

Open a beer and smile..... All of the builds I've been working on have the same neck pocket.  Routed out my Tele tonight and tested each neck in the pocket and - ya - they all work !!! awesome.  3 attempts to make the perfect templates worked out fine.  So I have 4 bodies, 4 necks - wanted 5 but need to plane the 5th.  Once I'm done with these, then It's on to originals, some of which will be based on Panteras - we'll see.

Coming along very nicely.

That curly maple neck is going to look the dogs.

Time to invest in a compressor.

what pickups did you use?

i have a tele with these  Tele Texas Blues by Dragonfire Guitars, very affordable, and they sound really good!
and another one with these  Fender Original Vintage (built to 1950's spec's, Alnico 3)  truly AWESOME!!!  sooooo worth the $$

This one has Schaller locking staggered tuners (no need for string trees), graphite nut, Fender custom shop texas special pickups, CTS pots, insulated wiring, all the good stuff.  It was not a cheap build by any means, and the Tex Spec PUPS are awesome.
I just installed the nut and tuners, stretched the strings and did a proper setup (nut slots filed to radius, saddles adjusted to radius, intonation set).

This is my first build complete from scratch and I am amazed at how well it plays and sounds.  Weird after working for so long on it and other projects to pick it up and it is a guitar, not a project.

Unfortunately, It goes to it's new owner the day after tomorrow Sad

I know I need to finish that 12 string spectrum, but I do love the flame on this tele neck that I worked on today.

It's things like this preventing me from finishing my 12 string.  Ugh - I love this wood - Curly Ash

Thanks for the Tele compliments...and I know I keep saying I'll finish the 12 - and I have sprayed and sanded more...and realized I need to spray some more.   Weird that refinishing is what got me into building, and now refinishing is at my bottom of the list of things to do Smile.  But I will finish the 12.
