sound check Spectrum LX
here is my second attempt at a guitar demo video. the production on this one is more standard, and a bit better.
the Spectrum LX and the others with the same layout on the pickups are most difficult to explain in words. not that it can't be done, but there are just so many options it is overwhelming to a newcomer. after several different attempts to explain how the guitar works i had to abandon that approach. it just sounds too complicated when you explain all the details. and when you stop playing to name the different configuration, it becomes harder to actually compare the differences.
anyone who has played a Spectrum can tell you that the layout is quite easy and intuitive, once you have become familiar with it.
so with this demo i play some simple riffs and switch around the pickup configurations. i use subtitles to detail what is selected. it is quite easy to hear the differences between settings. i realized after i finished that i did not include any demo of the reverse phase push/pull, oh well....

Great job Mike, I like how you just played and used subtitles. These are the videos that really help people in my opinion.

Sounds good Mike. Unfortunately, I still cannot embed it on our web site (i.e., show it in a player and run it in place) neither can I upload it because it exceeds our size limit.
All I can do is insert a hyperlink to the Vimeo site just as you've done here. I don't really want to do that since it sends visitors away from us, but that seems to be the only solution at present. Drat!

Re: sound check Spectrum LX
these first couple don't need to be on the info site
they have some bugs to them, such as not properly sync'd sound/video.
i left out the phase reverse switch option on the LX demo, and there's nothing to show how down-n-dirty it can sound either. so there could be much more to demo for that guitar. it is okay for a one-take video, but just not comprehensive.
i'm trying to set up a better recording situation, so i can record a good voice track too. i'll make a few experiments and try some various video editing softwares, and eventually i will put some of the better presentations on yootoob

Re: sound check Spectrum LX
Great. I can link easily to yootoob.
And don't worry about getting everything perfect. A lot of this stuff is gonna be difficult to compare and contrast since the recording equipment, playing techniques, amps, etc will all be different. I think what we're after is to get a "flavour" of the guitar's sound in as clean a manner as possible.

Nice job, like Chad said I like the subtitles, it makes the changes very clear. What an awesome instrument - so versatile. I like the clean sound, you can really hear the differences in tone, no distortion needed.
