sound check Concord 1
recently Barry mentioned that maybe some video hosting may be possible.
because it might be good to see and hear some of these fine guitars.
i have been looking around for some good freeware to do video editing and i found a program called VideoPad (i have a mac).
so here is my first experiment with some new software.
i made the whole thing today, recorded sound with direct out from amp to computer, used Audacity for audio, made a video with the HD camera, pieced it all together, added some effects for fun and poof! here it is!
smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

Re: sound check Concord 1
Great stuff Mike. Artsy and fartsy too!
My post on videos was in reference to the web site rather than this forum but it's still appreciated. I believe John is going to be working on one soon as well, so it looks like we're off to a good start! Thanks!
Once I get my act together I'll move 'em all to the westoneguitars.net site so we don't lose 'em. I think this gonna be good!

Re: sound check Concord 1
this one is not worth putting on the westone site.
the production is crude and heavy handed (the artsy) and the playing is far less than amazing (the fartsy).
it was fun to make, but not much more than that.
i thought this could just be a conversation starter, so to speak.
to discuss what makes a video interesting to watch/listen...
what needs to be shown and heard in a demo...
what guitars need to get a demo...
the video could be posted through the forum to get some feedback and suggestions from the members about which clips should be on the westone site
if i can put one together in a couple hours, on the first day i use some new software, then somebody with some real talent and expertise could make a good video quite easily. i watched an eight minute tutorial and then got to work on it. it was pretty easy to do. it was only ten minutes with the guitar, but then a couple of hours with the computer.

Re: sound check Concord 1
I've just spent some time working with that video on the web site Mike.
Unfortunately, I am not able to link directly to the Vimeo URL. For some reason, the player cannot "see" your MP4 video file on Vimeo and therefore cannot play it in the web site. By contrast a test of a YouTube video was perfect.
Near as I can reckon, it isn't the file format (which is supported). Rather it appears to be something proprietary on Vimeo's site which will not allow external links. Perhaps this is not the best vehicle for our purposes here? Sorry.

looking through the terms of service on vimeo, it details how to embed video, but it does not seem to be compatible with this forum's set up.

I'm referencing the videos on the web site not the Forum Mike. The web site is based on WordPress technology. If you have any specific directions please send 'em to me and I'll try again.

Re: sound check Concord 1
What I intend doing is perhaps a (very) short video running through the Genesis perhaps as not many in here have seen one, or running through the pickups selections on a H/S/H Spectrum? You blokes let me know what you'd like to see/hear, eh?!
However, being a complete Luddite, i shan't be processing anything post-production; it'll be video camera pointing at me playing a guitar through an amp. i haven't figured out much beyond that yet!!
What's more. it may be a while before i can do much of anything as I have a week long tournament to run starting Wednesday...

Re: sound check Concord 1
Ultimately, we need 'em all bro'!
If there's any way to run an extension mike to the amp rather than depend on the camera mic at a distance, it would improve the sound considerably eh? Otherwise it can get a bit "boomy".

Strange ain't it? I get the same comment from people who look at the Music Man models. Something about their 4+2 headstock that makes them appear toy-like somehow. Dunno what it is about the Concord. Fat bottom?Westbone wrote:Those Concords look tiny

Re: sound check Concord 1
thanks for the nice comments
concord 1 and 2 bodies are the exact same size, just different scale length, 24" vs 25 1/2".
the concord style may look small because of the very narrow waist line, which measures just over 7 inches as compared to a strat body at about 9 inches.

Yeah Steve I know the scale difference, just wasn't sure the bodies were the same or not.
I really fancy a Concord 1, and I mean REALLY.....just not black, I don't get along with black guitars at all.
