Looking for advice on 117 an 227 prestige guitars..
Hi all..
I'm just wanting to know if any Westone Prestige 117 or 227 owners out here have had many problems or know of any recurring faults with any of the two models ??..
If there is much if any difference in the core tone or electrical tone between either models???
I checked an know there are differences in construction woods an pickups used, but just wants some insight into which one you would think be the better model to go for out of the 2
I was thinking of trying to get one of either of these models in the future....
Thank you for looking and will reply back a.s.a.p.
Gasman...

Re: Looking for advice on 117 an 227 prestige guitars..
I've 2 Prestige 227's
1 red, 1 blue
Both quality made instruments.
The only drawback being the silly string bar on the headstock.
If screwed to tightly down it messes up the tuning if you use the trem.
Better off with it just touching the strings or remove it completely.

Now the blue one is fitted with what look like Super twin pups but are marked MMK45 on the bottom and they certainly sound diffrent than the super twins in the red one.
Now presuming that 117's have Hammer 1's (MMK45)
They sound fine but the super twins have a much more defined sound
So I'd say the 117's are a darker sounding guitar as opposed to the 227's
Personally I like the 227 with the super twins(the red one )
There again when you start playing with the pull/push controls both have their pros and cons.

They are stunning guitars Westbone, I love the sunbursts in those colours.
Just thought I'd say it, though I'm sure it's been said many, many times before.

Re: Looking for advice on 117 an 227 prestige guitars..
Thanks Ian, when you see them in different lights they kind of flip colour.

Thanks Westbone mate.. They're 2 Beauties you have there...
Love the blue one but that red one has something about it...
Know what you mean by the push pull pots.. Have a Gordon Smith GS 2 60 which i'm in the middle of upgrading with a new bridge an pickups which i'm thinking of just taking them out of..
That's great there's no known faults or troubles with these models..
Had seen binding issues with one or 2 117's in the past....
Now just the dilema of which colour 227 i want or can find... lol
Thinking Blue... Though red... Dam it
Thanks again Westbone mate you have been very helpful....

I've seen 250's with binding issues.
Both sides of the neck on the inner of the horns.
Nothing serious, just shrinking up by about a mm.
Can fix it with a bit of heat, carefully but only seems to be at the bottom of the binding not on the top/face of the guitar.
Wouldn't really worry about it.
