Spectrum advice requested please...
Hi gents,
My current fav to play Mat at the moment is my Concord III, great neck and feel to it.
I have been offered a Spectrum ST but having never played any Spectrum I just wondered if any of you guys were lucky enough to own both and were able to offer a neck comparison, I understand the stock pups are not necessarily great in the ST, but they can always be switched out...maybe for a couple of 45's?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Re: Spectrum advice requested please...
I own a white ST and I love it to bits, I own a Concord II with a maple neck/board, is your ConcordIII maple?
I'm guessing if maple then they are the same neck, 21 medium frets.....
the dimensions of the ST and CII are identical as far as my hands and steel rule can tell, medium frets on the CII, Jumbo's on the st.
obviously the maple feels....harder?...under the fingertips than the rosewood.

Re: Spectrum advice requested please...
You've been "offered" a Spectrum???
Why are you hesitating? Grab it man! Grab it!
Spectrums are the greatest little guitars Mats ever made. Comfortable, light weight, versatile, and in my *ahem* humble opinion, one of the prettiest (he said, looking at his trans blue SX and his red metallic burst GT).

My ST has the "good" UBC pickups and is a great guitar! You may get lucky, but yeah; they certainly can be swapped out!

Re: Spectrum advice requested please...
Thanks guys, yep, the Concord III is the one piece neck/fingerboard and feels terrific...
Judging by your comments it looks like I'd be silly to pass on the ST and in clarification Barry, I should have added 'for sale' on the end of just 'offered'....sorry for getting you all excited
Fingers crossed it comes with the decent UBC's, would the MMK45's be suitable replacements?....I suppose I could try 'em and see.
Thanks again for the help, I have to find time to post some photos of my Westies...just waiting for a bit of sunshine so I can get some decent photos so I'm guessing June/July time.....

Re: Spectrum advice requested please...
Many of the Spectrums did come with genuine MMK45 humbuckers.
I'm not sure if there's a production year cutoff or not, but most of mine (including my ST) were equipped with the less desirable UBC's, and they seem to be in the 1985-86 years. I may be wrong but it seems like early 80's versions have the MMK45.
