Have found a great company in England who will happily re- plate guitar parts.
THey are in process of re gold-plating my Rainbow 2's bridge, tail post, pickup covers and strap buttons!!
Anyone interested in them, let me know and will forward their address.

Re: Re-PLATING of parts
I've been thinking about re-plating some gold bits on my Vantages. I found a kit locally, ( http://www.caswellplating.com.au/store/store.php/products/gold-plug-n-plate-brush-plating ) for AU$120 (brush-on plating). How much are this company charging?

Oooh.... I've got a gold bit or two that need doing as well.... Keep me in mind when you decide to go for it; I'm sure we could come to an arrangement, eh?!

Ok, I'll chase a kit up in the next few weeks.
If it works you can have the kit and leftover solution.
Then again, if it doesn't work you can have the kit and leftover solution.
The kit should be enough for about 1 sq foot from what I've read.
Details to be sorted out soon... I'll PM you when ready...

Re: Re-PLATING of parts
Just now, as goldprices are getting higher and higher. Speculation on the return of the goldstandard. People tend to forget Nixon in '62 gave up on the goldstandard for it never to return! There will never be a goldstandard again stupid! And I didn't even start on the exploitation and environmental issues connected with mining it and mercury poisening local community's. Ah, well...
Replating must be a way to prevent the zinc hardware to break of corroding isn't it?
It has been discussed on this site before... can't seem to find it.
Maybe some links for the Fix Me part of the site?
And yeah, Peter show us the results please!

Re: Re-PLATING of parts
After trawling all over the net I eventually found a place for gold plating. Less than 10 mins walk from me! Have just picked up parts for my Presty 250 and they are excellently finished. Took the guys a week to do. Will post pics sometime but if anyone wants details let me know.
These guys are a small shop plating in silver, nickel, copper and gold (perhaps others) - no chrome.
