New Rush Album day
I know they don't use any westone stuff, but these guys are still kicking big time. New album has a lot of the old type Rush stuff going on in it. Looking forward to the concert in November. Lifeson is king.

Yep, me too.. in Newcastle. Good record, harking back to the Rush that moved my world wa-a-ay back in 1976...
Most excellent!

I know it's heretical to say but Rush does nuthin' for me.
Geddy Lee's voice grates on my nerves sumpthin' terrible.

Give them a chance today eh. He is way too old to do the wailing he did in the 70's.
And nothing wrong with chords that aren't always root 5th octave, odd meters, great bass playing and the drummer don't stink much.

I remember a quote (NME? 1970s) describing his voice as like that of a freshly gelded stallion whinnying in pain. .Seemed accurate at the time, I think it's dropped a couple of octaves since then though.

That's about right I reckon.
Didn't like him in the 70's neither.

Ya love him or hate him. I've know lots of people who can't listen to Rush because of Geddy. I love that band however, they were my first real concert back in '83, and i still enjoy listening to them very much. I've gotta check out the new album, i really like what i've heard from it.

Well, you blokes who've seen 'em loads of times are very very lucky; they never came close to Antipodean shores, and when I was in the northern hemisphere as a youngster, they were always someplace else!!
I waited 30 some years to see 'em!!
And yeah, Barry; you either love 'em or hate 'em!! I 'sort-of' went off them around the 'Signals/Power windows' era...
However, Clockwork Angels rocks my world!!

Indeed - Clockwork Angels - new album - new tour - support some real musicians eh !
Oh and you know how I love 12 strings.. Lifeson has a custom PRS 12 string on this album where all 12 strings have their own saddle. They can ALL be intonated corectly unlike any electric 12 string I have seen. I'm gonna try and get one of those for my Rabin Spectrum project

Rush used to swing through Winnipeg every single year from 74 to 87... now, not so much. "YYZ" is a tour de force, an absolutely mighty tune.

You haven't played a Burns Double Six, then. Paired saddles, but they're adjusted to compensate for intonation. No intonation problems on mine.
