FOR SALE WESTONE PANTERA X350MA EXTREMELY RARE GUITAR 1987
Selling my Westone Pantera X350. From my research there were only 48 of them made. Mine has the Bendmaster Floating tremolo. The non original parts are: Tone knob, 1 lock nut saddle for the low e and a string and a couple of backplate screws. The guitar plays and sounds great. It has bumps and bruises but in really good shape for being over 25 years old. You may never see one for sale again. Serial number 70XXX83 $2950.00 email me for more photos. Serious inquiries only. I have the guitar listed on the Indianapolis, Indiana craigslist also.

That is a lot of dosh. It's got a fair few bruises and non original bits.
Whats the condition of the frets??
A bit optimistic with that price me thinks.
Thats £1925.00.
One just went for £600.00 on Ebay

Did the one on Ebay have the Bendmaster Tremolo? Also what was the condition on the one that sold for 600.00 on Ebay?

You wouldn't by any chance be a member over at the Kramer forum, would you?
$2950 is roughly 3 times what one went for brand spanking new. Good luck at your price.

No I am not a member on the Kramer forum. When you say "new" you mean back i 1987 right? I remember the gas prices back then were low back in the day as well as a pack of smokes and a candy bar. Inflation sucks but when you combine that with the rarity of this piece you get a large number. I just posted it on the board before I go to evilbay to see if there was any interest. The price is negotiable, are you a serious buyer in the market for this guitar? I put a price up because I read the rules before joining and it said a price is required. I don't want to give the guitar away so I put up a price along with pics. I am going to be taking many more pics today. Thanks for the reply

Re: FOR SALE WESTONE PANTERA X350MA EXTREMELY RARE GUITAR 1987
I say go for ebay and set a reserve price to your needs. I think most folks on this forum understand the rarity of this guitar. It's cool that it has a Bendmaster since I haven't seen more than one with one. I also think most people on this forum are familiar with the other 350's that are owned by members, and have a good idea of what they have gone for in the past. I know it's a great guitar - I have one. Me personally, the Bendmaster is worth less to me (I don;t like that bridge) than the hardtail (which I have) or the Kahler (which I want). But others may differ in what is cool - in my opinion, everyone just wants one of the 48. That being said, I think the asking price is more than double what I have seen one go for recentlyin the US. Nothing wrong with asking - ya never know someone just might want it bad enough, so don't get angry if we have members that scoff at the price. If you can get it - then that is what it is worth to somebody.
I think when we post stuff for sale on this forum, we are trying to be cool to the other members and not make a huge profit as we are kinda a tight knit group. We all help each other out. If you are looking to get the most ya can, then I think Ebay is the way to go, hope to get some lurkers in a bidding war and move it up in price. We've seen X390's go for a lot more on Ebay I think this year than ever before. So good luck sir - you have one awesome guitar and I hope you get a great price.
And thanks for all the pics - I was suprised they put a chrome BMD on the 350 - would have thought they all would be black to match the rest of the hardware. It is a cool guitar.

Re: FOR SALE WESTONE PANTERA X350MA EXTREMELY RARE GUITAR 1987
I asked about the Kramer Forums because a member over there has an x350ma with a Bendmaster on his as well and thought perhaps you were him.
Yes, I am a seriously interested buyer... most any regular member or even casual lurker will be able to attest to that. But I am looking for a seller who is realistic in their idea of what one is worth. You seem to be a person who has done some research so I am assuming you know what a realistic range is on a selling price for one.
If you are Graham Nash then I could see you getting $3000 for yours, but then we both know without the cachet of a previous owner like that the guitar itself would not command that.
The last one previous to the one Westbone caught that was on ebay didn't even make it's reserve 'cause the seller was ridiculously high in his expectations. He had an acquaintance join this forum to guage interest as well before going on ebay to try to realize an unreasonable price.
You may indeed get what you are asking for it, but I highly doubt that will happen here. You need a much larger and less informed group of possible buyers to get there.
Again Sean, I wish you luck. I happen to know EXACTLY what the last 6 of these sold for and you are in all honestly well outside the bell curve in your thinking.

No offence to anyone who owns one or lusts after them but Panteras aint my bag either. I still enjoy reading about the hunts and the restorations, but if I fell heir to one it would be straight on to the Bay with it.
I am sure that they are fantastic guitars which play and sound superb but they are not for me. Also, I don't sell guitars on this forum as I am happy to let a broader market decide upon its worth.

Even though I own a Pantera X 300(pointy h/stock, bendmaster term.) I'm not overly keen on it.
Just that's it's mint and I'm going to keep it.
Also own a pearly white x390, Kahler trem, not overly smitten, just don't go for pointy h/stocks.
Now the x350 is a different kettle of fish(no offence Mike)
Until you've tried one , nice clear MMK 75 p/ups, stop/tailbar, normal type h/stock, simple volume/tone controls.
Different strokes for different folks.
All these guitars with multi switching just does my head in, constantly switching and fiddling and never really satisfied with the sound. Give me a simple guitar anyday.
Just my 2 penneth worth.

I'm with Sean and Westbone. Some of the best fun I have playing is on my single pup guitars.

Yes, Yes... I've got a '63 Melody Maker that is about as "simple" as it gets... I get it.

Vantages are good guitars.
I've got 6 of 'em.
But I gotta have at least 2 pickups, and lots of mega-switching options are a must for me.
But about the most I can handle is 3 mini-switches.
My favorite switching method is that found on Westone's mid-80s H/S/H guitars:
With all knobs in, the 3-way gives you:
Bridge HB
Bridge HB + Neck HB
Neck HB
With the first knob pulled out, the 3 way gives you:
Bridge SC
Bridge SC + Neck SC
Neck SC
The middle knob turns on the middle SC pickup, so the 3 way gives you:
Bridge (SC or HB, depending on the first knob) + middle SC
Bridge + Middle SC + neck
Neck + middle SC
The third knob reverses the phase. Not one of my must-have sounds, but it is a cool sound for some solos or rhythm parts.
I appreciate, but don't really need, the ability to separately split the coils (like on my Vantage X-77). There are zero situations where I want a bridge SC + a neck HB sound.
But the good thing is that it is cool to have the bridge HB and with the 3-way ready to switch to a neck SC for a bluesy solo...
I also really appreciate the one 3-way + two 2-way mini-toggles on my Corsair XA-1430 and Corsair GT. I still haven't really figured out exactly how to get the exact configurations I want, but I can usually find a good single coil quack or metal HBing sound when I want it. Then when you add in the DSR5, man, you can get some good tones out of the guitar itself.

I really dig my Electra X199 and Specrtum FX, but i also really enjoy the simple 1 humbucker style as well. When i gig i tend to go the simple route. It really depends on my mood and its fun to have the option to choose. Hell, i love em all! LOVE that trans blue Avenger by the way there Barry, so cool

Barry's black avenger looks a lot like a Fernandez EG 160, one of the hardest guitars to come by, with the most incredible 24fret through-neck (and unlimited tonal options).

Re: FOR SALE WESTONE PANTERA X350MA EXTREMELY RARE GUITAR 1987
Looks like this one is up on ebay. curious to see what it goes for. Lots more pics, and it does look pretty rough. If it could be had for a reasonable price I think this would be a good one for a refinish - there are that many dings and cracks in the finish. The inlays look a bit suspicious as well - maybe floating up a bit like mine was when I got it. I had to redo the entire fretboard, but it was worth it.

Yup, just went up today. No reserve so it should go for what its worth, always suspicious when there are cracks where the neck meets the headstock/fretboard area. Pretty banged up

Hopefully for Sean's sake it will be bought off his CraigsList advert instead. He is still asking $2950 or B.O. there.
It should at least break the $1200 reserve not met of the last one on ebay... I will guess $1740.
