Pantera X350MA possibly for sale
Hey guys. First post here and I know this can look shady so bear w/ me... I hang out a lot at Harmony Central and somewhat at The Gear Page. I'll post a link to a similar post at HC to try an prove I'm not some kind of scammer. I go by dap99 at HC and dap9 most other places like TGP.
My dad has a friend who owns this guitar and isn't all that internet savy. He said he'd take some pics of his, but he said it looks pretty much like the pic I'll paste below. While visiting my folks, the guy let me borrow this guitar and I remember it feeling really nice. Didn't care much for the look, but it did play well. I'll also post his email to me regarding the shape of the guitar. I'm not going to edit anything in that email. What you see is what he wrote. I've somehow become an Ibanez "fanboy" so I can appreciate that this guitar is pretty special to this community. I'm hoping I can get an honest estimate of what this guy could expect to sell the guitar for should he choose to do so. If anyone here is interested, I can put you in touch with him. I'm just doing this b/c I'm familiar w/ forums and figured if I can help fellow guitar lovers get their dream axe and a fair deal, I'm doing my Karmic duty. So first, here's a link to the post I put up at HC. PM me there if you want and I'll reply if that helps anyone feel like they're not getting duped. You'll see by my post count there that I've been around for a while. So here's the email from the guy:
And here's the pic he said looks just like his (I can see if he'll provide actual pics if anyone's intersted). Thanks for any help!

This old girl is ~7+ of 10 (10 being considered museum grade)
The thing is well used/not abused, all 24 frets are very nice, neck is very nice (butter), electronics no issues.
It does have a quarter sized nick in the finish on one spot (1989 long story) and I picked through the finish near the bridge pickup.
I used up ~10 sets of strings a month for the first 7 years on this thing. (It’s mostly been in the case last ~18 years or so)
So far as mods; I removed the pickup covers (still have them), installed strap locks (still have originals), tuners are original machines, factory case well scuffed from the road.
I can knock the spider webs off and give it a photo shoot this week end.
Hey if someone really want this thing I will sell. If not it’s a keeper.
And here's the pic he said looks just like his (I can see if he'll provide actual pics if anyone's intersted). Thanks for any help!

Looks like I'm not allowed to post external links for 7 days. If you go to the HC site and then the Guitars section, I posted in the SPAM thread. You can do a search of my username, dap99 and get there that way too. Thanks

No worries, Sarc. I spotted that as your axe right off.
I believe Dap just did not have anything pics ready yet of the actual instrument he may be shopping.

Right - yeah, just posted the pic the guy sent me until he takes some of his guitar. Funny coincidence. I sent an email and got an Out of Office reply. I'll see if I can find out when he gets back.

LOL! I guess "first dibs" doesn't apply when it comes to something as rare as hen's teeth! Looks like it's "game on" and highest bid for anything this rare in our midst! Like throughing a sheep into a den of lions... I won't be trying to get this one at least, that Vandenberg broke me for a while.

Yeah; tricky one, eh?! When there are so few available, I don't think calling it really works... I suppose deepest pockets wins!
I donT want one, so you're safe from me!! Even if I had the wherewithal to consider bidding..... Just bought 5 tickets on the big silver bird from here to Australia.....

How could you not want one? They are too cool not to want. That being said, good luck to whoever does get it - gonna like it a lot.

I know.... How odd am I ?! I've had to pass up my personal grail this year so I don't feel too bad about it!! And if I want a neck thru with 2xMMK pickups, then I've got my ol' faithful Vantage VA 900; I have an X300 and that's as far down the Pantera line as I need to go, really!

Wow, I guess this thing is like the Moby Dick of Westones. Still haven't heard from the guy, but will let him know there's definitely an interest.

Just tell him to put it up on the bay - now that the frenzy is going on, I want to see what it goes for

I want to see too! Yet I don't want to see it on the 'Bay, because we don't need ANOTHER high auction Westone going on. Drives the prices up. Look how in the past year they've gone up! Ugh...

They may still be the OEM pickups as they had covers on them with the bird logo under the high E. I think they should be MMK 75s.....

I wonder if any of the 390's come with active pups and we just don't know about it yet? Unless someone on here already knows.

Ebay sucks, i've sold a few guitars and with their charges and paypals they take waaaaaaaaaaaayyy too much. He'd make more money selling it directly to one of these fine lads on the forum.

I played with EMGs for a while and got over it. I believe the best use for them today is on songs where you need a humbucker for the dirt, but you need a clean sound too that's not too warm or dark. EMGs get really bright and brittle when you roll the volume back. Think Metallica. Just about any song from the black album forward that required both clean and dirty guitars was recorded with EMGs. If they didn't need the clean, they didn't use the EMGs. You can see this in their live shows too.

Great info Colt, thanks for the insight. That's actually very helpful.
And about Ebay, we don't need ANOTHER super high priced Westone all over the place for everyone to see. Seriously, will drive pricing up.
