Spectrum LX Parts
I may have a Spectrum LX coming my way, but it's missing the trem arm and the little string-holder piece on the headstock (see pic). Anyone/anyplace I could get these from? Also, what exactly does that little piece do?

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
The string lock? It's so the guitar stays in tune when you do dive bombs with the trem. Otherwise it goes out of tune, like a Strat.

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
One these...
http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Electric_guitar_tremolo_parts/6mm_Tremolo_Arm.html
.. should see you right for a wang bar, but the stringlock is, at best, problematic; they were peculiar to Westone and very rarely come onto the 2nd hand market.
As Warrn says, they are important as they keep the guitar in tune when you swing hard on the bar; you may need to see what Schaller offer as a behind the nut stringlock, or perhaps fit, or have fitted, a locking nut.

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
It sounds like a locking nut its the best option - I was planning to send the neck to someone for repair anyhow (it's well worn and gouged out in a spot); he can add a locking nut and fill the holes in the headstock, too.
Thanks for the info.

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
first time caller!!! in the same vein but opposite side of the guitar....
i also have a spectrum lx, likely an 85-86 model, it's got the japan flag paint job as listed on the index page
and from what i'm reading it has the bendmaster tremolo
i pulled this, my first guitar out of the closet this week and would like to get it in playing shape
everything seems to be ok so far except one of the saddle/bridge parts that has the 2 allan heads in it
all of them loosened except one, anyone have any spare parts for this?
i'm also needing to replace the 3-way toggle swith
any ideas or suggestions appreciated

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
If you can clamp the little allen screws in a vice, heat up the saddle, it's alloy and expands quicker, rock the screw back and forth it should/ will loosen up.
These saddles are not readily available. There are some others that fit but you'll have to hunt around.

Other members will no doubt chime in shortly, but in the meantime you might find this helpful: FT Bridge Replacement

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
thanks for the info so far, i'm hoping to not have to replace the whole tremolo because everything else is in working order, will try the heat trick though, it's soaking in liquid wrench oil now in hopes to loosen it

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
They're a bugger of a thing when they seize up; I even put a cool flame from an oxy/acetylene torch on one of mine, and all it did was bubble the chrome! Rotten Allen screws didn't loosen though!
I found that saddles from a 1980s Höhner super strat fitted, and I've got a couple left if you really need a replacement; let me know. They're not exactly right, but near enough as makes no odds....

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
Never had a problem loosening any seized saddle screw with heat and a small vice.
Don't get it so hot as to bubble chrome. As by then everything is too hot.
Always have to replace the grub screw though as it's usually chewed to bits by then.

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
man it's nice to have knowledgeable helpful folks around here
i was scared to clamp anything on those grub screws because i didn't know if i could replace them
now for a whammy bar with the insert piece and a fine tuner knob and this thing will really start to take off

Re: Spectrum LX Parts
The insert piece, eh? Do you mean the little collar that screws into the sustain block through the bridge plate, through which the wang bar goes before engaging in the sustain block thread? If so, they're more rare than chickens lips but I am at the moment making a concerted effort to make some!
Wang bar is not quite the same as the Bendmaster Deluxe one, but I'm sure I've seen similar ones on the American or British guitar online shops somewhere...
Sing out if you want one of the fine tuners...

that is indeed what i'm talking about, i never know the proper terminology or how to explain quite so well as ya'll do here
and i would love a fine tuner knob, let me know what i can do!!!!
and to those requesting pictures of the one i'm trying to fix, i'll get to work on that, maybe tonight
but don't be disappointed because it does not look anything like it did originally
i was so tired of seeing the rising sun paint that i took a sander to it to make it look better(what i thought at the time)
