didn't I just mention wanting a 390 with the old school logo?

If I didn't just buy the Session II, I would be all over this one.

Just the 'W' on the headstock too.

AH!!!! That's the old logo with the super cool font! cheers This thing is gorgeous, we've been waiting for one like this to show up.

Ice, although I REALLY WANT TO make an offer on this thing, I'll relent for you to take it. Go get this thing man! The Lord will bring me mine one day.

Post by Iceman Wed Jul 27, 2011 6:04 pm

Well here is the upshot at this time...

Yeah Sarc the auction action is part of it. The other part is he is now saying someone "out of the country" has made him a higher offer that does not include shipping costs.

He has stated he is in a bind for $$ right now and though he feels badly about it he is going to revoke his end of out agreement. There were some troubling signs yesterday though...

I spoke with him twice and the last time he was suddenly requiring a money order from me and would not reply to my emails, phone conversation only as well. He wants to now keep ebay and paypal out of the picture.

I suppose I could sense this was coming. He now wants to think more about it, still says he doesn't want to ship it abroad but thinks he should see more than my offer for it.

I'm going to take one final swing at this and then I'm done.

Post by Iceman Wed Jul 27, 2011 8:51 pm

Well guys my tent is packed and I'm heading home.

His final reply basically told me it is all about the $$ to him now. I told him and will repeat it here that I did not agree with it but I suppose I can understand it. He apparently has financial difficulties at the moment and wishes it was different, but he still will be going back on his word.

I have been very blessed in my life up to this point in that I have never found myself in a place of having to choose between my word and money, and pray that will always be the case. So the lowdown for any still interested parties is...

My initial offer about 14 hours into the auction was basically $775. We agreed at that initial email and phone session on him closing the auction, sending a few added pics and i would get back to him by 9 AM CST with us proceeding to exchange info for the transaction.

Emailed him the next morning confirming my intent, followed with a phone call at noon.... and then it got turned sideways. He still would close early, the guitar was still mine, but he wanted either a money order or I pony up additionally for paypal fees, then ended with it being a money order only. But hey, still mine.

No answers to emails all day until this afternoon, late....... now the auction is over $560, an overseas buyer has offered $850 and he said he needs the "peace of mind" of knowing he sold it for the best price.

Like I said, I don't agree with it but I understand it. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

So if anyone else wishes to go at it go ahead. You will not be stepping on my toes. I hope you don't get sent through the same hoops I have jumped through.

Post by Guest Wed Jul 27, 2011 9:00 pm

That's what happens when someone is trying to sell inside and outside the auction. I got burned on a 390 last year with a deal. The seller then went on to get high bids on this forum at a later time, while simultaniously running an auction. So in those cases, someone always gets burned. Thats why when something is on auction I don;t try to make a side deal - if I get it - it screws the bidders...but if a bid wins , then i get screwed.

In this case, i assume he will get more than either outside offer since a lot of people have their ebay searches saved to include the 30 and will probablt get bidded around a grand.

Sorry for pain Ice, I've been there. I'm thinking the way to get this one is high bid.

seems like a pretty shady character, trying to play both sides of the fence here. he wants access to ebay buyers, doesn't want to pay for the service.

to me, it looks like there might be a couple shills in this auction driving up the price.

I agree Westbone. The guy just shoulda kept his mouth shut and let the auction ride. Apparently the guitar was worth more than he thought. Way outa my league, i'll just keep strummin my FX instead and be a happy camper. Very Happy

You guys are all within various degrees of being correct. I do not blame him for needing to get the most he can. We have continued to converse throughout this auction and he seems genuinely distressed and remorseful about what he has done to our agreement.

Quite a bit of what I posted so far is venting as well. I have posted his auction a few other places for him and made some suggestions as well for him to edit his listing to hopefully gain a wider audience.

I have to be true to myself and still state that what he chose to do was wrong in my eyes. I still do not feel he was justified, but i can only imagine his present difficulties that drove him in that direction.

I do hope it works out well for him.

Life's too short to be a prick about it, but the regardless of circumstances, he accepted an offer and made "an agreement". Far too many people out there do exactly what has happened to Ice here, and renege on the deal; ethically very wrong; I ever run into the peter andre that scammed me in exactly this way; I'll break his legs...

I agree that looking from the outside in it could be seen as rather strange.

The faintest glimmer of hope remains that I may still end up with it if it does not get too far away from my final offer to him yesterday. He has told me he is still wrestling with what he did (and I'm thinking his "significant other" is working him over a little about it as well), so who knows?

Just cannot find any more anger in my heart over it.... and really I do not want to let it fester in any case. Like I said earlier I have been blessed in my life to have never found myself in his predicament and hope that continues.

Oh it was definitely a keeper. Only one finish blemish near the body bottom edge and one nicked fret from the pictures (about 15 or so) that he sent me.

So he basically about doubled the "outside" offers he got, at least those that he shared with me.

I also know now what his word is worth from a dollar standpoint, I suppose. Looking at it from the view of him remedying his financial woes he did what he had to do. His voice the last time we spoke convinced me he wished he hadn't ever considered my offer, let alone him accepting it and agreeing to payment and shipping terms with me. Oh well....

Just thankful to say I have never found myself in his shoes. I'm thinking the fit would be cruel. Evil or Very Mad

Well that auction completely exceeded my expectations, yowsa!!! affraid Some collector got that, it tripper his trigger and he sold the farm for it. I wonder, anyone on here?!

I wonder if we'll see it relisted soon due to non payment from the highest bidder?! Laughing I doubt it, but that does happen.

I think we're all a little suprised with this one. I doubt anyone here got it, we'd probably know unless they are ducking the Iceman. Very Happy

Naaah Hobster.... no one need worry about ducking anyone. At the end of the day someone ended up with a beautiful example of an x390 and paid to do so.

I am sure the new owner is quite proud of his new acquisition, and rightly so. It is a beauty!
