As most of you here know, there were only 96 X390's made, fewer pearl whites. These originally sold for $1200. It has the Kahler Pro Trem. At the time the absolute best trem, unfortunately no longer available as Kahler went bankrupt. I purchased this as new old stock. I rarely played it, but it was never neglected. I have a smoke free house and the guitar has either been hanging or in it's case. Recently one of these sold on e-bay for $1580.


I have this listed on another forum that I frequently use and have sold a lot of items on. I do this to try and put some validity for this post. I wouldn't trust someone selling a $1500 gtr with 1 post.

Wow that is quite a guitar you have there, as well as quite an asking price. I hope you can find a buyer at that amount without putting it on ebay. I am fairly well acquainted with the auction you are referencing and that was quite a bidding war to get it up to that price.

Great instrument but that was a severe bidding war between bidders so hard to say what an average price would be. It was certainly on the extreme high end of the scale. Good Luck but I must pass on this one.

Love to have it - but I got my X390 for 1/5th of that a year ago. They do go for a lot on ebay these days so that is your best bet to hit the 1k mark - good luck

Agreed with the rest of the lads. Emotion is what fuels the pricing on these guitars, not the name or model so much.

We've seen cheap models go for way too much and expensive models go for way too little, so an average price is almost impossible once bidding occurs. So I'm sad to agree, but you'll probably want to stick her on the 'Bay. We'd love to buy, but not that high.

That expensive Pantera auction was a fluke, and that's how Ebay gives false encouragement for owners to sell their gear. This is a true case of "it's worth what someone will pay for it". I hope we don't sound uninviting, because we're anything but, we're just being honest. And you have got a beauty there! I'll have one some day...

you guys are all correct, it is a high price and that's where I'm starting at. Granted I don't really play it much, but it a beautiful GTR and great to play. So if I don't sell I'll probably be happy. But the car needs new struts and the house needs a water heater.

And the price is what every the market will bear.

Well it is very nice indded and I wish you all the luck in finding the right buyer. You never know if you don't try. Great guitar.Just use the old Kentucky windage rule and start high and then adjust the rounds until you are on target.

Makes my x390pw look crappy. That's how nice that one is!!! Hope some gets it on here.

GTR is sold. I sold it at Guitar Center, hopefully someone who appreciates the Pantera line will pick it up.

I got it for less then I was asking for, but more then any other offer. I wasn't too happy about selling it. I could have gotten twice what I was originally asking for and still wouldn't be happy.

Ed must have gotten more than my offer which was, as I recall telling him, "somewhere in the $800 range", so I will assume he got at least $900 or better. Care to confirm or deny, Ed?

One could describe this as either my 2nd attempt to purchase it from Ed, or the continuation of a first attempt which began several months ago over at Harmony Central. Fish should be able to confirm that as I first caught the scent of Ed's Pantera there by stumbling over a "wanted" type post Fish originally began.

Anyone else in a sharing mood?

That's right Steve, Ed first offered it to me on Central, as I already had a mint one I passed him on to you. Although I had my suspicions, it wasn't until later I knew it was you on Central. Wished I'd have gone for it now, I could have kept the case & stung you for the 390, Oh what a tangled web we weave

Never asked Ed the price at the time Damian but its my guess it was $ though it was some time ago now, he had plenty of time to think the price up by the time he offered it here

It is in USD on the Guitar Center site. It would have been nice to have been able to deal further on this but I never really was given a chance to improve on my first offer. I think the seller was in a bind for cash and pinched for time simultaneously.

If not pressed for time he would have done better on ebay I'm certain, seeing how the last 2 sold there for over $1550 and $1850 in just the past few months. Some sellers are also swayed by the idea of a guitar being played and cherished as well as by the $$ signs, others I suppose do not have that luxury.
