Sid Poole bits

Apologies for the purists out there but was thinking about restoring this for a winter project. It claims to be a Sid Poole Corsair:-

Why do decent guitars end up in bits like this?

That's a prototype, Corsair's had the pickup switch on the scratchplate, not on the body.

Yeah, I saw that one aswell. The only problem I have with it, is it doesn't exactly match the production models I've seen.

I'm not sure if it's a pre-production prototype or a factory one off. I know a lot of the spares and unfinished guitars were sold off from the original distributor, maybe some factory specials got sold off with them?

I think anyone bidding on it would have to tread carefully with this, but judging by the quality of the wood in that centre jointed ash (?) body it could be made into a great guitar.

Tempting for that lovely shape, but could turn out to be a very expensive little project!

well, that's just gone into silly money territory for me! shame.

I just hope they're not expecting to get a perfect Westone Prestige on the cheap, the proper one's are fetching big money now!

£185.00, That's hard to believe, for a prototype. Looks bloody ugly with selector switch where it is. Could'nt even fit an original shape scratchplate. £185. that's hard!!!! ouch.

Yes, saw that one. Bought a complete Cutlass from them 8 months ago £120. and a body with neck and tuners for £45. The way things are going might stick it on ebay, see what happens with this one. They are very good guitars though.

The seller is the old FCN music, the original supplier of the Sid Poole Westones. I assume they have a lot of old bits hanging around

Wondering how many of these they've got kicking about. I suspect that the demand for fixer-uppers and winter projects is not that great. Reckon I'll sit back and see if any more appear...

The same person who bought the first one clearly just tried to buy this one, which is annoying as they added £80 to the final price.

At least you got what looks like a production run body and neck, good work.

I'm guessing your now trying to think of somewhere to hide it from the family! Best get the excuses ready then, "it's different from the others", "it's rare", "it's collectible", and most importantly "you want to know how much it cost? A lot less than it's worth!"

My tip for hiding guitars you shouldn't have bought, stick'em in a bag or case and swear you've had it for years!

Another Sid Poole designed UK made Westone Corsair body and neck has appeared on eBay. It's from the same seller as the other pieces so I thought i'd tack it onto the end of this thread. LOOK HERE.

Looks like this one has been dropped and busted up the finish pretty good. Seems to be confined to the back of the body but it could do with a repaint to make the best of it.

I'd love to know how many they have stashed away!

Well, I emailed them last week to ask what bits they had tucked away, and they said that the Cutlass that I bought was the last one, but they had a few necks lying around... I guess that perhaps they have a few more than they were letting on! One a week for three weeks so far, wonder if another will go up next Thursday...

What I really need is a tracing of a Cutlass scratchplate! This thing is not going to make any noise until it gets one...

I might have another go at this cos I guess admin isnt gonna bust my budget this time?? If you are tell me and I wont bid.
Wonder if they will start drip feeding the parts now?
