Used Westone Custon Shop Westone - Sweetwater's Gear Exchange
This is a Custom Shop Westone Snakeskin guitar. I'm going to sell this guitar, I have no idea what it might be worth.
There was 50 guitars made that had a snakeskin body and headstock covering.
There is only 2 of them that had an actual Floyd Rose. They were installed by their Custom Shop and this is one of them.
The story is as important as the guitar.
I was approached by a sales rep from St. Louis Music in 1988. His name was Ed Conn. He told me that when he hired in, HR thought it would be funny if his employee number was 007, so that was his employee number.
I was an up and coming guitarist and he wanted me to play their guitars. Ed showed me the new guitar that had a Python top, also covering the headstock. I was blown away. lol. I told him that if he wanted me to play their guitars, I wanted a Floyd Rose installed. He said they could do that, but I had to purchase the Floyds. At that time, that model came with a Kahler Trem on it, (When they installed the Floyd, they left the Kahler locking nut.) I also had them install the DSR Harmonic Enhancer, which doesn't originally come on this model.
It has Dan Armstrong Pickups, which you can see the models in the pictures. I ordered 2 of these guitars. Color: Black
I played the guitars in 1989. After that it has hardly been played.
Still plays and sounds great!
It does show light use. Look at pictures.
It comes with the original case, but the handle is broken off.
The snakeskin is in great shape. There is no issues with it.
It has an original Floyd on it with the original arm and nut. I have included an upgrade arm if it was desired to be changed.
The Kahler locking nut screws have been replaced. The original locking screws stripped from the allen wrench.
All the original paperwork is included.
It shows they installed the Floyd Rose.
Possibly the first Westone to have a Floyd installed on it.

Thanks for the pix, docs, and story danab!
Ordinarily we discourage the "what's my guitar worth?" question and we include that in our registration message.
But on this occasion, you have a distinctively unique Westone so I understand your wanting to get a read on its value, but I have no idea where to go with an answer for you.
For any guitar, its worth is whatever the marketplace says it is worth at any given time. And the same would be true here.
For sure it is a collector's item and will appeal to those people, and for those who are players this is a fine 'battle tested' instrument and they'd be happy to gig it.
I will defer to the membership to chime in with something more concrete for you, but I think it comes down to marketing/advertising this guitar and generating some interest. The more folks who are exposed to it the more likely you will be to get a decent return on your investment.
I am happy to move this post to the For Sale forum if you wish, and there is link in the menu bar to an associated Face Book page which would offer some more exposure to Westone fans.
p.s. Do you have more pictures?

as long as you are moving things around, perhaps you could change the post title, because, as can be seen on the receipt, the model number is listed as XA1440BKC
1440=HSH
BKC=black, custom
interesting that this one has a 24 fret neck
there are no photos of the back of this guitar, i wonder if it has wood screws or bolts with inserts in the neck
i have a Dana with the harmonic enhancer on it and the control is a pot, not a switch as on this example
looks like a fine guitar with an interesting backstory
another rarity from the ever changing productions from SLM
danab,
you stated in your original post that you ordered 2 of these guitars. do you still have both of those 2 guitars and are just selling one of them?
