Spandau Ballet Rainbow question
Dear Fourm,
I am curious about the Westone Rainbow from the Spandau Ballet videos.
Every Rainbow I have seen has binding on the body, neck and headstock.
It is hard to see on these fuzzy video photos. Does this white guitar have binding too? It would be white next to white. So tough to see either way.
Is this a Rainbow I or II?
Thanks for your help

Re: Spandau Ballet Rainbow question
definitely a Rainbow 1, chrome hardware and dot fret markers
never seen one in white, but maybe they requested a special paint job
surely a factory job since the logo is still on the headstock

Re: Spandau Ballet Rainbow question
Ah yes, the elusive white Rainbow.
This has been the subject of more than one thread here over the years, and Corsair was quite smitten with it as I recall.
Here's one I managed to find with some good info from our man Westbone:

A few years ago, BowenJayBee Mentioned that the F Holes were a bit different on the white guitar.
I know there were a couple different styles of F holes on these guitars. With and without top round areas. Was there something unusual about the shape on the white guitar that would make it unusual?
Thanks for your help.

Taking this post one step beyond..... the Rainbow in the video must be a 1982/83 version .....check out the unique shaped f holes

Re: Spandau Ballet Rainbow question
only just that the later '82 versions did not have the round portion on the top of the 'f' holesbroadcasterguy wrote:A few years ago, BowenJayBee Mentioned that the F Holes were a bit different on the white guitar.

some examples;
'82 Rainbow 1(june '82), with 'f' holes just like the one in the vid
another '82 Rainbow 1(also june '82) with same 'f' holes
and here is an '82 Rainbow 1(feb. '82) that has the round bits at the top, also has different body shape with rounder 'horns'
I have two Rainbow 2 guitars, one from october '83 and one from august '86. both have the more standard shape 'f' holes

Re: Spandau Ballet Rainbow question
What color do you think the headstock decal is on the white one?
Do you think it is a black or a gold logo?
There is a pretty good shot of it at 1:24
Geez, I wonder how many times the grown ups in charge had to tell those kids to keep waving their arms.
Thanks for your help
