Alvarez Trevor Rabin Same as Westone Rabin?
Except for the pickups, is the 1993 Alvarez Trevor Rabin AER300BK Neck-Thru FR the same as the Westone Trevor Rabin Signature III?
Let's assume it has the diagonal inlays and DSR5 switch. Perhaps the Alvarezs were part of the same batch in which half became Westones & half became Alvarez?
By the way, what does the DSR5 switch do?

Re: Alvarez Trevor Rabin Same as Westone Rabin?
i don't think it was a split between Westone and Alvarez, but an evolution over time.
Trevor Rabin played a Pantera X390 first
then a customized Pantera X390 (photos and videos show TR's X390 with set-ups different than production models)
then came the signature model for Westone
then as Westone production ended, Alvarez produced the signature model (probably the same factory, just different label on the headstock)
i have only seen video of TR playing modified Westone Pantera X390 onstage, or another guitar in that same style but the artistic modifications on the guitar obscured any manufacturer's label
i can say that my Westone Trevor Rabin II is very light compared to a Pantera X390
i also think the Alvarez Trevor Rabin for sale on Reverb right now is majorly overpriced at -> $1250 <-
the DSR5 is operated by a potentiometer not a switch, so variable as opposed to on/off
description of the DSR5 from the westone history pt. 2 on the >website<:
Two types were made, active and passive. The actives were a combination of a compression, frequency comb and fixed parametric. They compressed the 400 to 2200k range and combed at the pot variable. So, you’d find your sweet spot, depending on the room dynamics, and you’d get some really sweet “alto” tones. Eventually we added a bass roll-off to the circuit to control some of the “wump thump”. Passive models were really a notch filter that was designed to pass mid-range and filter low and high frequencies.

You read my mind and thank you gittarasaurus. What would be the right price for that guitar in your opinion?
If the "Alvarez" branding was removed & the correct "Westone" waterslide decal added, do you feel that guitar would constitute a legitimate Westone? Not too many Westone Trevor Rabin Signatures come up for sale.
Also the Alvarez has a Floyd Rose licensed Tremolo I believe while some of the Westone T.R. Signatures had the Kahler? At least I saw the 1990 Westone Trevor Rabin Signature I has the Kahler Tremolo.
From his 2017 Guitar World Interview, Trevor Rabin says it's the Alvarez T.R. Signature he still turns to:
"I assume you have a lot of guitars, but do you have a particular favorite?" —Antonio La Penza
"I have three favorite guitars: My old Fender Stratocaster, and then I did a signature model with Alvarez many years ago, which I still play, and I've just recently done a new signature model with Washburn, which I also love playing. I use it mostly in the studio. I probably won't be using it on any of the songs we're doing on tour."

This is my Baby..... And your right I will never sell it. It is an awesome guitar and not as heavy as a X390 and balanced.
