Beat up Westone Prestige 150 (I think)
Hi,
the guitar came up on RSA Gumtree, bridge is broken, no truss rod cover, tuners replaced, serial number 2063585. Number of dents. Need to replace the bridge and give it some TLC He's asking USD100 given its condition, is it worth it?
My big Q is can I replace the bridge parts with tune-o-matics or have they gone ever so slightly Japanese here with different widths? If I can replace the bridge parts (broken in half and worn) .
I am not at all concerned about 'purity' just a decent playing guitar, the road wear adds to the attraction for me and I know these are quality guitars. Another USD 100 on hardware and ding repair and I'd have a road worn beauty for under USD200.

There are no direct replacement tail pieces. It's an odd size 73mm.
They always snap at the A or B string where it's at it's thinnest. Many have snapped.
They are made of crap metal(pot metal) Can't weld or braze them.
Best thing is to plug the holes and mount a tune o on there. You won't see the old holes much the tune o will cover them. Blob of paint helps.
You in SA? goed gaan Bro!

But...is it worth it? That's a job for a specialist luthier type.

I hear you, ta for the tip. I'd rather not damage the wood, do you know if it's possible to mount a standard tuneomatic bridge and saddle without drilling into the body..? The guitar is advertised on RSA Gumtree under 'Les Paul'. I can't post the link. Body has some dings as well. It could be a perfect gigging guitar and I could leave my Gibson at home

Bloody shame about these crap stop tails, such a beautiful Westone model. Even more a PITA is the non-standard post centres.
If it was any other guitar I'd say it would be a candidate for the bin. But for the price, I think this one is worth the effort to repair and replace.
