Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Hello Iam very new here and Iam not sure if this is a question or topic that has been asked or Iam missing something. I need a or the wiring diagram to a Pantera 300x. Some of the wires are still connected which is a help. I know how to solder etc. If someone who owns one maybe take a picture of the inside for me, Any and or all help would be appreciated. I have never wire a guitar before but if I had a diagram I know I could. Please and thank you for all input.

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Hello thanks for asking its a push pull pot, one volume and tone in one. I'am gonna posting a picture of what I have. I think I'am looking past it on the internet I have searched but I don't see a diagram for it online. As you will see most is still connected. I think I will have to re solder four wires and its the front pick ups orange purple blue and green wires from the switch and pot.

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
your guitar has been modded
original Pantera setup had only a volume control

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
at the top of the forum you can find "FAQ"
when you clik on that you should look for the section titled "Formatting And Topic Types"
in that section clik on "Can I post images"
hopefully that will help
you will need to wait 7 days after you sign up in order to post images, it is a way to reduce spam and other trash that shows up in the forums
after that you can post all the pics you like

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Thank you so much, I took a picture of everything I will post it soon and try to wire this up. I came across this guitar in 1990 it was hot and hot pink. Long story short its now white, But I didn't mod anything and pretty sure it came from a store. Interesting to know you say its been modified. The tremolo looks different than the hot pink one you have in the picture there. I get the picture posted asap it will be complete soon

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
this one has a different trem than the others i posted
notice also the different font for the writing on the guitar as opposed the others
this is an early edition, sometimes known as the Leslie West version since this was the style shown in the adverts when he was a Westone endorser
all the Pantera 300 guitars were originally issued with a push/pull pot, but it was a volume control with single coil/double coil option, and no tone control
so a previous owner probably wanted a tone control
the one thing about the p/p for volume or tone control is that when selected for tone control, the volume is full up maximum output only

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Like I said I have never wired a guitar and not sure now. I'am positive it was never modified. I'am sure I do not know what it does, It is a push pull but what it does I don't remember it has been since the 90's since I played it. So I think you are right, It is volume control with single coil/double coil option. I'am positive its never been modified

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Some were modified at the factory; in fact, I'm quite sure any that have volume and tone circuits were modded there - mine certainly was!
The push-pull pot is simply a coil split on a Pantera; on some of the real tricky Spectrums all of the three controls were push-pulls; coil split, centre pickup on/off and phase reverse....

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
One way that might clarify if the tone or volume pot was added post-sale is to remove the pot and inspect the hole itself. If there is paint IN the hole and the area directly on the edges is not chipped (might have some minor damage), then it is likely factory stock. When done after-the-fact there will often be some obvious chipping and the hole will be completely clear of any paint or finish.

From your photo it is being used as a coil split/tap on the humbucker of course.
The skinny red wire is the coil tap.
Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Holy Smoke, Thank you so much to everyone I cant say thank you enough. Ok, It was pink I'am the one who stripped it put primer on it been in a box since. No damage to the hole when I took it apart, Great advice thank you Exfender and westbone for making it clear. In the next few days I will wire her up and link a picture. I can never have to many guitars.

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
on the blade switch you can see the connections;
yellow-neck
purple-middle
white-bridge
blue is output to volume pot
on the p/p you can see;
the red wire from the center tap on the humbucker, the grounding wire from the middle lug to the ground connection point (still present in your posted pic)
below that you can see the connections on the volume pot;
blue is from the blade switch output
white is the volume pot output to the jack
the last lug is connected to ground
at the ground connection point you can see the blue and green wires from the neck and middle pickups and the bare wire from the humbucker cable

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
looks like you have one of the early models there
yours may have had the 'noodle' font on the body, like on the white one i posted as opposed to the trio photo that all have the newer "Pantera" font on the body
other special details; only the early Pantera 300 guitars had the "W" logo on the headstock instead of the more common "W Westone" headstock printing. i also notice you have the different string lock used on the earlier versions (i think it is made by Kahler). the later versions with the Bendmaster Deluxe trem had a stringlock typical of other Bendmaster equipped Westone guitars
glad to see you got it all working again. these are great guitars! enjoy your new/old guitar!

Re: Pantera 300x Wiring Question
Thank You for the info, I'am the one who stripped it and its all original never changed anything but the color, There was 300x on the headstock I took that off. I digress, I was wondering now if i could somehow find the original decal that was on them like you were speaking of. So I'am now looking into that. I got this guitar from my BF's landlord. My Bf passed away less than a year later, It's very special to me. So I named it Leslie. LOL! I name my guitars, Like everyone else, Well I think we all do. R.I.P Les!
