Don\'t Know  The only Tak's I've come across have been the acoustic-electrics which are top notch instruments. One of my old band mates had one.

I've owned 2 Takamine GX100 electrics.  They were made in Japan in the early 80's.  I believe they made two models. The one like yours and the explorer like mine pictured below. Takamine Electrics G39-ta10Takamine Electrics G61-ta10

They look very nice mate
I have seen just a few of those GX100s for sale over the years but never one close enough to home to grab (maybe one day)

There was also at least 1 more body shape but only ever seen a couple of these advertised over the years

This would appear to be rebranded Aria Pro II ZZ model, i.e, Matsumoku made. LINK

I would tend to agree. A friend of mine has a Takamine acoustic that also looks suspiciously Aria. . .

Yes Barry they look almost identical except for the set neck - All the Aria spec sheets point towards bolt ons

Yes similar to the Aria ZZ's which I also own several but there are differences beyond being one piece body and neck.  Headstock design, sunken knobs and slightly thinner body but I do believe they are Matsumoku built.  Here are a few of my ZZ's.  The last one with the natural maple neck I ordered direct from the factory in 1982 and got the 62 one ever made.Takamine Electrics G4-ari10

No problems with mine - I was just chasing info on where they were manufactured etc as I cant seem to find anything on the net. Any search for "takamine" brings up a bazillion acoustics and even a "takamine electric" search brings up acoustic electrics. I know they only built solid bodies for a couple of years but was curious if they did them themselves or outsourced them
