Westone info site

Barry and I would like to thank those who've contributed funds to the upkeep of the .info site very much indeed; no good reminding y'all that this is a user defined site with all of the information therein being donated by you, the interweb people one way or another!!

However, it does seem that traffic here in the forums has slowed right down and thus, it falls - for the most part - on those who've been in here a long time and who have contributed before to put their hands in their pockets and frankly, that's just not fair when the site still gets a fair amount of views per day.

I'm not quite sure what to do about that and any and all suggestions from the floor will be considered....

I will state here and now, too, that I am not going to remain as an admin for very much longer - I've been doing this now for 14 years and am getting a little jaded, and my input these days is not really much cop; I have a feeling that Barry is coming to the end of his tenure as general IT wonk and behind-the-scenes fixer-upperer so that's something else that needs to be taken into consideration.

Priority-wise, my feeling is that the forums really are of no great loss if they quietly disappear, but that the ongoing maintenance of the .info site is paramount and if at all possible should be continued...

I have a couple of options that I'm exploring currently that I'll keep on the down-low just for the time being; but look, fellas - I need ideas!!

Im about as handy as a rag dick when it comes to IT stuff and due to the nature of my work my time here tends to be all then nothing but I would hate for this to disappear

I didn't know how much is needed, so I threw in $50USD.

I'm useless at coding (barely passed the SQL segment of my web dev classes in college 20 years ago because I don't have the brain for it), and I don't know what help I could be on the admin side, but let I'd be willing to try.

Brand new to the site and ownership. How can I donate?

We have recently changed Administrators and there should be some news coming in the next week or two about a change in our hosting platform situation.

This may mean that our expenses will go down and that the main cost will be for the Domain Name only (WestoneGuitars.net). I'll leave it to DreamRaven to make the announcement at the appropriate time.

First, sincere thanks to all who have contributed to the website support fund.

Second, as mentioned we have a new Administrator (DreamRaven) who is working on an alternative hosting situation for us.

We hope that will be resolved before the current contract is due for renewal on Feb 19.

In the meantime I have LOCKED this topic to suspend any further donations.

Just for a quick update:

Myself and Barry have worked through the transfer of the hosting of WestoneGuitars.Net website, and it is now live on my hosting service, and under my control, all very smoothly, to ensure that it will live on!

I am looking into options that will keep the site self-running, but it's all good for now. The 'hosting account' is now info at westoneguitars dot net if you feel like you wanna help!
