SLM now: Has anyone ever contacted them about Westone
Why, you say? Larger corporations with extensive history occasionally have archivists. I was exploring SLM's site and based on their "About Us" section, I doubt they have more than a few dozen employees. That said, someone there may have access to production numbers, prototype info, etc. that could be interesting to our group (or just me
). By profession, I am in Marketing and can talk-the-talk. Well, a little - I've only been in the industry 25 years. Anyone interested or have insight?

Re: SLM now: Has anyone ever contacted them about Westone
I don't know for certain if anyone in here has contacted them, but I'm pretty sure someone, at some stage must have had the same idea, eh?!
I'd be interested in what they have to say, so I say have a crack; the worst they can say is that they don't ahve any records left from that era! Don't forget to add Electra in the question...
Have at it!!

Re: SLM now: Has anyone ever contacted them about Westone
I don't recall anyone having contacted SLM directly, however, don't forget that for a brief period Tom Presley joined our Forum and offered a lot of background information and historical development details on many Matsumoku/Westone instruments and his role in it all.
In one chat with him I did ask about production and serial numbers, etc. He replied that he did have some info "somewhere" and if he found it he would share it. Sadly, we never did hear back from him on that point.
But I compiled the gist of several of his posts and you can read them on our website in the History section (two parts): USA Development History
