Westone Spectrum ID
Greetings;
I am picking up a Westone bass tonight, It appears to be a spectrum but the person selling said it just says Westone on the headstock. and no model. The closest match I can find on westone.info is the Spectum GT but the pickup configuration is different and it appears to have an extra toggle or 3 way switch which is not on any of the models listed. could this be a prototype or something of that nature? The only picture I have right now is from the ad and its not very clear. more pictures to follow after I pick it up tonight.
Thanks!

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
I would say that this is one of the electras crossovers.... It should be a 84-85 model.
Have a look at this :

Same as yours with the togle.

Interesting, that is the same pickup configuration looks like it has a few more switches tho, but it is the closest match I've been able to find. I guess we will know more when I pick it up tonight. Thanks Pierre!

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
Looking at the old version of that Electra site, this bass looks like the X650 they have a (very low quality) picture of. Click here.

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
I have an Electra bass as well as several Westone basses, so I think you'll be pleased! I know I'd be happy to have it. Gotta say though, I've never seen one that just said Westone. That's very unusual. Your average X650 on eBay says Electra Westone on the headstock. I wonder what the circumstances behind it are.
Also you may want to contact the admin at the Electra site once you've got it, as they appear to have very little information on the X650! Knowing him, he'll want all the details.

Yeah, X189player is an information vampire with a guitar collection to kill for!! He has a Monark or 2, too but back to the bass, if it plays anything like my GT, you'll be well pleased; they're comfortable, versatile and have a great sound!

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
It won't sound like the GT, since it has P-J style single coils, but it will play great and likely have a great tone. If that split coil is like the ones on my X640, it will have a nice fat tone to it.

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
84 is the Electra-Westone year, so I wonder how that one managed to get a Westone only headstock. I think that might be about the only Westone bass to not have humbuckers! And wow that is a reflective finish!

Re: Westone Spectrum ID
Still keeping the VA!
It is a very shiny finish, that is even before I cleaned and buffed it. Im very pleased with the bass and for a price in the double digits I couldn't go wrong. the neck pickup is not working I think the 3 way switch just needs a good cleaning.
