Web site was down today. . .
. . .for about 17 minutes.
Our main web site went down (again) at about 1:45 pm local time. Simultaneously, I was unable to access the Forum for a portion of that time.
Because the forum uses the same domain name it can also be affected. YMMV.
Our web host has not had a stellar reliability record this past year. The site has been down at least 4 times since last November with outages lasting from 2 to 48 mins. This is terrible performance for a professional hosting site and a big disappointment for me, since I choose them.
I hate to say it but 1and1.ca, the Canadian branch of 1and1.com (a German company), does not have a proper handle on their server management. By contrast, I have had my personal and professional web hosting on the American branch for many years with zero problems.
Calling their tech support is like arguing with a drunk, the drunk always wins! Lots of apologies, but nothing is ever resolved. Very frustrating.
If you have been inconvenienced....my apologies!

I hadn't noticed, Barry, and I'm sure no-one else was inconvenienced by the outages, so any apologies are unnecessary!!
I was even thinking not too long ago that the new outfit were doing OK....

Thanks for that Johnny. I tend to get a little pissed at this kind of thing.
Sure, we're on a shared server but that should only result in a bit of a delay loading from time to time, not site inaccessibility. Just crappy management on their part.
