Classic Vibe Custom Tele for £99!!!
Well, I was trawling the old eBay the other day, and I have to say that recently it has been pretty devoid of not only bargains, but also of anything decent anyway.
Then I saw this.
Collection only, listed as an Affinity Squire. As it was just over twenty miles from me I couldn't bid fast enough!!!
£99!
In almost perfect condition, one very small ding on the headstock.
I snapped it with my other Teles when I got it back home.
Not being able to leave anything alone I did a bit of work on it, and got it playing and sounding even more to my liking.
First things first, new strings and new bone nut. Widened the string spacing, even though this guitar has a slim neck, the nut has enough room to give a 37.5mm string spacing across the strings, and it fits my hands much better now.
Then I took a look at the electrics, figured the pots would be okay for now, but the switch had to go.
Put an open cover on the neck pickup and wired it to a four way.
And of course an Electrosocket, as the jack cup was up to its usual tricks.
It still may get a black 3 ply guard and some brass saddles, but for now I am just enjoying playing this thing.
Every now and then a real bargain comes along, and this was one of them!

Great score! One of my biggest regrets is not having grabbed one of the Classic Vibes when we were selling them at the shop. These are terrific players.
