bridge pickup mounting ring
Hi,
Does anyone know where I might be able to get a pickup mount (frame - whatever the correct term is) for a neck pick up for Westone Thunder 1.
I bought a general one off ebay thinking it would work fine, but it doesn't fit. The neck of the guitar seems to stop the mount from being able to get in position to be screwed on.
Any thoughts appreciated. (I am not desperate for it to be specifically a Westone Thunder part - just as long as it will fit.)
Thanks
Rob

Re: bridge pickup mounting ring
Was the OEM mounting ring completely munted?? I've actually fixed broken ones, eh....
Are the Thunder rings angled or flat? I would've thought that metric rings would fit with no problems?!

Re: bridge pickup mounting ring
I think it is basically flat. The ring I have is kind of useable - but it only has 3 sides! (It has all 4 corners though - just about.)
So functionally I think I can cope with the original, but aesthetically would look better with a new one.

Ok. Then I'd suggest taking the measurements off the ones you do have and hunting around for a new one! You'll probably find that you'll need 2 as 1 new one and one old one look a bit pants!
How close is the one you've got to fitting? If it's pretty close, then filing or grinding it back where it's binding could be an option?

Re: bridge pickup mounting ring
You need 89mm wide by 45mm.
Screw mounting holes need to be 80mm apart.
These are the only ones I've found that match the width/length but there's no indication of the mounting hole distance.
Ebay item number 272221534234

Re: bridge pickup mounting ring
Both the Thunder rings are the same height so you will either need to sand down the taller bridge one to match the neck, or buy 2 sets and only use the necks from each set.
Or email the seller to see if he'll sell 2 neck pieces?

Re: bridge pickup mounting ring
Sorry. I forgot to respond to these comments.
At the moment, I am using the old frames (despite the neck one being broken). However, I have found some on ebay that look like they should be the right size (based on Sgt. Vimes comments).
Just need to wait for them to arrive now.
Thanks
Rob
