Session is nice, but expensive! That red-burst X185 is just gorgeous... so much want!
And as much as I love pointies, the Futuras just look weird.....

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
I'm lucky enough to have that same Electra model under the Westone brand. Great guitar.
That session is a gorgeous guitar, and you don't see many of 'em over 'ere. But yes, price-y!
That Futura is odd, but if you look at it again it appears to be an Urchin with its limbs trimmed.
edit:
Just realized that we have no entry on the website for the Futura model. Nothing on the Electra site that I could find either.
True, it was under the Electra-Westone banner and didn't appear to have made it to the Westone branding switchover, but I think we should at least have a mention of it. We do have other Electra-Westone's represented.
Opinions? Anyone have any pix? Info? Whatcherthink?

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
the futura was actually produced under 'Westone' as well as 'Electra Westone' and 'Electra'. i spotted one on craigslist several months ago that had only 'Westone' on the headstock. it was a pearly white version.
this one has only 'Electra' on the headstock
front 2 knobs are volume/ rear 2 knobs are tone w/ push/pull pots for coil split and phase reverse. upper pair are for neck pickup, lower pair for bridge.

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
Interesting Mike. I wonder why we haven't seen any literature on it.
It does appear to be a modified Urchin with a Spectrum headstock. Maybe it didn't sell well after the first run?
For comparison...

Nope, she's an '82 Aria Pro II, Urchin U60T, one of our Uncle's "odder" body shapes for sure.
It's one of those back-from-the-near-dead resto stories that made me wish I had never started it some days. Worked out well in the end though, it's a beautiful playing guitar despite the weird shape.

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
really nice guitar....bet its hell to find one with the horns not all chipped up. I like how it looks like it would still rest over your knee pretty well, even with the wild shape. By contrast the futura seems to lack symmetry. kudos!

Here we go....
http://www.rivercityamps.com/electra/futura.php
I thought these were peculiar to Electra, or Electra/Westone!!
They do look a little unbalanced and asymmetric; perhaps why I've never chased one?!?

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
I like the flipped red version in that link way more....looks more balanced somehow.

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
Thanks John, I couldn't locate it for some reason.
I agree it's a really unbalanced look, but I too give the edge to the reversed version in red. Seems to work better. Very strange concept.

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
I have both the red and white models of the future as well as the Black Bass. The white one is a reverse body of the red on(mirror image). Both play very well but to me the white reverse body is a more comfortable fit. I also have a very nice trans green Aria Urchin that is indeed a very close match in size and shape. I will try to get a nice weather day and get a photo of all 4 together as well as some comparison photos. As far as I know the pickups are the same but will double check. Awesome fast necks on all these models.

Re: Craigslist interesting finds 3-31
Excellent Arthur, it will be interesting to see them together.
I assume the Futura's are under the Electra branding?
If you feel energetic and are willing I'm happy to put pix of your babies on the web site along with any specs you have. It's such an odd guitar I think it deserves a mention, even if it didn't quite make it to the Westone lineup.
