Westone Thunder Facebook Page
No afiliation here, and I'm sure many of you know about it, but someone has started up a Westone Thunder Owners Club Facebook Page, which is nice to see.
Has about 120 members, I'm sure they'd be happy with a few more.

Yikes, 120 Thunders!
I have little use for Facebook for things like this. I think you can have a more meaningful dialogue in a proper Forum.
I guess the collective IQ has plummeted to the point where people would rather click on a "Like" button or fumble * with their phones to mumble something vaguely coherent in 140 characters than actually communicate.
Yeah, I'm old, arthritic, and grumpy.
* I don't think that's why opposable thumbs were invented.

I think you're confusing it with Twitter, which restricts the length of posts.
There are actually a lot of very informative Facebook groups devoted to all kinds of guitar style/playing/interests. I follow a slide guitar page which is superb, everything from old historical pics of bluesmen, to videos of Duane Allman in full swing.
Forums have their place, and so do Facebook Groups.
I use 'em both
Maybe of interest to some on here there is a great group called Matsumoku Only, there is another called Vintage Japanese Fanclub, all of which have Westone owners on board.

Oh, I understand the difference Sollo.
I just don't "Like" either one.

Facebook is awesome - apparently
I wouldnt know because i dont have it
I can see the attraction for groups as described
I can also see the pitfalls - constant bitching and backstabbing from family and friends
Maybe one day

Re: Westone Thunder Facebook Page
There was a Facebook page operating a while back, and it was quite a happy place, but the bloke who admined it died suddenly and the page went quiet.
Personally, I'm not a fan of the social media phenomenon - the sight of groups of people in a restaurant or cafè sitting around, thumbs flying whilst ignoring each other makes me wonder about the state of humanity - and have long since disabled my Fb account. I use my phone to call people, not text them, and to check my bank balance ! I use use my iPad sparingly - much prefer to use the desktop even if Apples latest updates seem to be making life harder, not easier...
Looking at my children, I suspect that I'm in the minority, eh!!

Re: Westone Thunder Facebook Page
Barry - I'm with you all the way on this one! I've been encouraged to use Facebook by several people, but I have always refused. I get to hear what is going on via one or two 'spies' in the camp anyway (and most of it is rubbish).
I'm sure there are plenty of genuine people using Facebook and/or Twitter, and with the best of intentions, but don't you think that the majority are pretending to be something they're not?

Re: Westone Thunder Facebook Page
No doubt it's largely a generational thing (Hey, I have a 20 year old who can't function without his phone!). But a "smart phone" in my world is an oxymoron.
There just ain't nuthin' smart about being addicted to, and interrupted by, a constant stream of barely intelligible information.

I blame the parents!
My 20 year old manages just fine, he only decided he wanted a smartphone when he was handed a hand-me-down this christmas, and even then he only uses it for kindle reading.

I'd wager your situation is in the minority though.
I hope it continues, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Notice how I didn't mention his addiction to hand held gaming devices, or my 14year old daughter's smartphone being glued to her hands ;-)

No, no you did not.
And, seriously, reading a book on a tiny phone screen? Don't get that neither.

:-)
I read every day on my phone during my commute, i've always been a big reader and love books, but the convenience of having any book i want in my pocket is too great, plus the text size is the same as most paperback books!
