sucks but it costs 3x the ammount to ship a neckthrough/setneck guitar to Australia as it does a bolton (shipping size restrictions, boltons can have the neck removed)

ooh, that's pretty!! Yeah, you're right about the shipping for a full size guitar like that; even neck off they can be pricey - my Spectrum GT from the UK cost less to buy then to ship at the cheapest rate where it spent 14 weeks on the water!!

That said, if this is your dream machine, then I say do it!! If a Vantage VA912 ever comes up, watch this space.... Shocked Very Happy

This is the second thread for the same instrument, and seeing as I'm in the states I've got my eye on this thing!

DAMMMMMN...Uncle Mats made good stuff!
Dunno what it is about this bass but it is very appealing.
Makes me want to learn how to play 4 strings.

The sad part is I think I'll be out of the running for winning it before I've even thrown in my bid. If this thing doesn't sell for an obscene price I'll be surprised.

hm,perhaps you're lucky and the price won't go up so much because it looks quite used and the bridge-saddles even need to be laquered. The last two I saw (the one in Toronto and mine) went for about 500 USD (I got mine a little cheaper but it needed some work so in the end I was quite close to 500)...
By the way: It's not a neckthru Wink

The saddles look very similar to the bridge of my x790 when I got it...
I guess sweat is the reason why the laquer isn't there anymore...
The fretboard also looks quite used...

I thought I'd responded to this... in my eyes, those are very minor issues. Nothing I wouldn't expect out of a well used 80s instrument. Anyway, as I have little eBaying experience and have low feedback as a result, I asked the seller if I could bid and got a thumbs up! Unless someone decides they want to pay more than I do, I'm going for it. Very Happy

You have a really good eye for that kind of stuff. It's not important to me, though, as I intend to play it, and I'd feel bad putting wear on a pristine example. If I don't manage to win it, I've got my eyes on a nice Electra... I don't really want to spend as much as the Electra is listed at, but if this Pantera goes higher I'll probably snag it despite the cost.

I tried to "snipe" it or whatever, and eBay decided I need to sign in again (even though I just had) and took too long to get to the confirm bid page. I'm so mad... it went for just $222.50... Mad

It was supposed to be a bargain for me. Crying or Very sad And the seller was a pawn shop, they probably didn't know what they had and made a decent profit on it.

I purchased a beautiful Electra Phoenix X640 bass since the Pantera was robbed from me. Can't wait to get it in! Just like a Spectrum, but with a slightly blockier body, a pickguard, and two P-bass style pickups. Brass hardware, maple fretboard, a bunch of active switches... honestly I would have picked it first to begin with, but it cost twice as much! Oh well. Going on a strict no-eBay-for-six-months diet (let's see how long this lasts Laughing).

No worries, corsair, you will see it! Though I will most likely post it over on the Electra forums, since I just registered over there. Once I receive it, that will be my first post. Very Happy

Cross post it Warren, I would like to see it.

I "studied" acoustic bass for two years and am mighty interested in taking it up again. Preferably on a Westone or Vantage, etc...
