I like both versions and I was fortunate enough to grow up in Macon, Ga with the Allman Brothers bans as well as others like Otis Redding, Marshall Tucker Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Atlanta rhythm section and many others when Capricorn records was based in Macon Ga. D. Allman is buried there as well. Great music. Awesome live as well.

What a great 'ole classic. Played it many times, wif and wifout m'band. Always a winner.
I'm not a huge Clapton fan but I like him. I think in this instance though, he doesn't really add much. This song was made for a Les Paul, and that was some very tasty playing right there!

Eric is a touch over-rated these days and banking on old glories, I feel; that said there was a time when he was unhinged, not unplugged!!
That's a glorious tune - thanks for the share.

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
Mortaman, that must have been so cool having all those guys as your local bands to watch when you were younger, Atlanta Rhythm Section, now that's a blast from the past, great outfit and always that Marshall Tucker, "Can't you see"", classic
As to Clapton, I put up that video link because of Greg's amazing delivery and Dicky Betts playing and it was the only motion video of the track I could find, sadly with no Duane, but Barry totally agree, it's a Les Paul Track. Clapton is an acquired taste of late personally, for me it was always his time in the Blues Breakers and Cream where he found his mark and audience.
Here is a Cream live version of the same track and yeah, he's on the mark that night as are Baker and Bruce...

Yes I was blessed indeed to have such talent playing the local bars etc back then and they were just hitting it big. We had some great music come out of Macon in those days and even today the local music is still very good. I was fortunate enough to see the Charlie Daniels Band/ Atlanta rhythm Section and Blackfoot all in one show. That was a blast and a great show. That was a show over 5 hrs total for only $12.

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
Yep Got that album still today, a favorite. They played with a literal wall of Marshall stacks about 8 ft high and from one side of the stage to the other. My ears were ringing for days but it was worth it. I was lucky to have a front row standing spot about 4ft from the stage. they were awesome as were the others. ARS opened then Blackfoot, Charlie Daniels and other friends. Was a Rocking nite in Macon, Ga for certain. Train Train in person really Rocks.

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
I still have all my ARS 8 tracks lol and 2 albums. The Bass player was a cool guy as well and could play the frets on that Ric he played. The lead singer was just a regular guy and you would never know he was a rock star if you met him out in town. Was as nice as he could be and would always take time to talk or just kick back with you. he lived on the lake not far from where I grew up in Macon. The drummer was also an easy going guy heck they all were. they just enjoyed what they were doing during that time. Sorry the three are gone now. Great video.

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
So here's a thing, do you think that Southern Rock was responsible for dual guitar solo's, or was a good contributor??

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
I think the best dual solos came from Southern Rock and had a huge impact on the Dual leads etc such as Molly hatchet, Skynard, Blackfoot, ARS, 38 Special, Marshall Tucker, and many more awesome acts.

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
... and yet the possibly the greatest dual solo of all time came from California, though admittedly Don Felder was from Florida!

Re: Wednesday evening's tune, enjoy !!!
Great bands all! And you're a lucky bugger Arthur to have experienced them as you did. I'm envious.
And the Eagles without Felder? Just not the same.

True.
But no denying that Henley, et al, are great in their own right.
